Sigel St. Michael is headed to State.

The Sharpshooters won their own Class 8-1A Volleyball Sectional Monday.

St. Michael defeated Stewardson-Strasburg, 25-13, 25-21.

St. Michael advances to the Class 8-1A State Tournament Friday at Assumption Central A&M Middle School and will face Cissna Park at 7 p.m. Both teams sport 21-0 records.

In other matches Friday, Pontiac St. Mary's (19-5) takes on Decatur Lutheran (18-4) at 4:30 p.m. while Lincoln West Lincoln-Broadwell (18-2) meets Peoria Limestone Walters (20-3-1) at 5:45 p.m. Cornell (16-5) will face Augusta Southeastern (19-2-1) at 8:15 p.m.

The winners of matches one and two advance to an 11 a.m. meeting Saturday while the winners of matches three and four square off at 12:15 p.m. The third place contest is set for 2 p.m. and the championship at 3:15 p.m.

 

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Sectional

Jasper County fell in the Teutopolis Sectional to Shelbyville Moulton. Shelbvyille Moulton was a winner 25-19, 25-19.

Jasper County finished the season with a 13-6 record.

Shelbyville Moulton (18-4) heads on to the Class 8-3A State Tournament at Pana High School Friday and will meet Germantown Hills (20-3) at 8:15 p.m.
