Effingham's season came to a close in the Class 4A Taylorville Volleyball Regional Monday.

The Mustangs lost the opening set to Rochester 25-18 but came back with a 25-17 score. But the Mustangs lost the match 25-11.

In the other match, Taylorville won over Charleston 25-18, 25-17.

Taylorville and Rochester will meet for the regional championship at 6 p.m. today.

Effingham ended the season with a 16-4 record.

Class 4A Taylorville Regional

Effingham -- Tessa Raddatz, 1 kill, 1 assist, 7 aces, 9 digs; Camdyn Burgholzer, 2 kills, 6 assists, 4 digs; Bailey Bohnhoff, 1 assist, 1 ace, 9 digs; Maci Hayes, 3 assists, 8 digs; Macy Kirk, 6 kills, 3 aces, 10 digs; Melia Wendling, 2 kills, 1 dig; Kayla McBride, 1 kill; Amelia Koester, 1 block

 

Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael advanced to the championship of its own regional with a victory Monday.

The Sharpshooters downed Grayville, 25-21, 25-12.

In the other match, West Salem won over Martinsville, 25-19, 25-22.

St. Michael and West Salem meet for the regional title match today at 6 p.m.

 

Class 7-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

South Central and Edwards County (Albion) moved into the title contest with victories Monday evening.

South Central defeated North Clay (Louisville), 25-15, 25-18.

Edwards County won over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-14, 25-16.

South Central takes on Edwards County at 5 p.m. Thursday for the championship.

 

Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

The two area squads in this regional both fell in Monday activity.

Oblong defeated Dieterich in the opening match. Dieterich won the opening set 25-22 but Oblong came back with 25-17, 25-13 counts for the match.

Casey-Westfield then defeated Arcola, 25-12, 25-15.

In the final match, Neoga fell to Hutsonville/Palestine, 25-21, 25-8.

In tonight's matches, Paris Crestwood meets Oblong at 5 p.m. followed by Casey-Westfield against Hutsonville/Palestine at 6 p.m.

 

Class 7-2A Assumption Central A&M Regional

Two matches were contested at the Central A&M Regional Monday.

Assumption Central A&M downed Edinburg. Edinburg won the opener 25-20 but Assumption came back with 25-23, 25-20 wins for the match.

The second contest also went all three sets. Findlay Okaw Valley defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25-22 in the opener. CHBC came back with a 25-22 victory. But Findlay Okaw Valley won the match, 25-11.

Assumption Central A&M and Findlay Okaw Valley will meet today at 6 p.m. for the championship.

 

Class 7-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

The second round of the  Robinson Nuttall Regional will be contested tonight.

Teutopolis will meet Robinson Nuttall at 6 p.m. while Jasper County will take on Marshall at 7 p.m.

The winners advance to the championship match Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 7-31A Windsor Regional

The championshp of this regional will be contested Wednesday.

Stewardson-Strasburg and Effingham Sacred Heart will meet at 6 p.m. for the title.
