Members of the Stewardson Trinity Lutheran volleyball team that claimed the Effingham St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament were, front row, left to right, Maddy Manhart, Rachael Weaver, Carrah Daniels, Sienna Bostedo, Kierra Mueller, Kalia Friese and Gia Bostedo. Back row, left to right, Tammy Manhart, Kenzie Thompson, Colby McCormick, Brinlie Durbin, Madison Beitz, Elizabeth Hampton, Zaida Wascher, Mya Friese, Katie Durbin and Bridgitte Friese.

Stewardson Trinity Lutheran claimed the championship of the Effingham St. Anthony Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

In opening round play on the East Court, Windsor defeated North Clay (Louisville), 25-21, 12-25, point differential; Trinity Lutheran defeated Holy Cross, 25-8, 25-13; Trinity Lutheran defeated  Windsor, 25-12, 25-9; North Clay defeated Holy Cross, 25-20, 25-17; Windsor defeated Holy Cross, 25-22, 25-22 and Trinity Lutheran defeated North Clay, 25-11, 25-12.

In openimg round play on the West Court, St. Anthony defeated Heritage, 25-16, 25-15; Newton St. Thomas defeated Mason Clark, 25-10, 25-19; Heritage defeated Mason Clark on forfeit; Newton St. Thomas defeated St. Anthony, 25-11, 25-21; Newton St. Thomas defeated Heritage, 25-11, 25-21 and St. Anthony defeated Mason Clark, 25-13, 25-7.

Stewardson Trinity Lutheran defeated Newton St. Thomas, 25-19, 25-15 for the title. Trinity Lutheran is now 13-1 on the season.

Third place went to St. Anthony over Windsor, 25-22, 25-9. 

Fifth place was claimed by North Clay over Heritage, 25-18, 25-16. Seventh place went to Holy Cross over Mason Clark, 25-22, 25-20.
