MOUNT PULASKI -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured third place at the Mount Pulaski Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

 The Hatchets tied Shelbyville. WSS won 25-11 and Shelbyville claimed a 25-20 victory.

Kinley Quast led the team in aces with four while Gabby Vonderheide had seven kills. Ella Kinklaar led in assists with 11 and digs with eight. Bella Braden also had eight digs. Halle Momaw had three block assists.

WSS then claimed a victory over Illini Central, 25-18, 25-10. Kinkelaar led in assists with 23 and had seven digs. Quast had seven digs and four aces, Moomaw led in kills with eight.

The Hatchets fell to St. Joseph-Ogden, 25-19, 25-19.

KInkelaar had 17 assists while Vonderheide led in digs with eight. Kineklaar and Brianna Hewing had one ace each, Hewing also had a solo block and a block assist. Moomaw led in kills with six.

WSS then claimed a victory over Mount Zion. The Hatchets clawed out a 30-28 win in the opening set. Mount Zion came back with a 25-22 win. WSS then won the match, 18-16.

Quast had three aces and 11 digs. Vonderheide led in kills with 10. Kinkelaar had 26 assists and 11 digs. Vonderheide had one solo block and two block assists.

"We didn't start the day off play very well but ended on a great note placing third," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "St. Joe was a tough team but we were able to stay with them. The win against Mount Zion was a nice surprise. We fought hard and came out on top."

At Mahomet

Effingham St. Anthony competed in the Mahomet-Seymour Tournament Saturday.

The Bulldogs defeated Decatur MacArthur, 25-17, 25-13 before falling to Pleasant Plains, 25-22, 25-11. St. A then lost to Peotone in three sets, 29-27, 24-26, 15-13. The Bulldogs rallied and claimed two more victories, 25-22, 25-17 over Mattoon and 25-18, 25-18 over Morris.

Leading overall in the stats for St. Anthony were Lucy Fearday with 47 kills, Maddie Kibler with seven aces and four blocks and Anna Faber with 116 assists.

St. Anthony is now 26-9 on the season and heads into regional play Tuesday in its own Class 1A regional against Dieterich at 5:30 p.m.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis tallied a victory over Neoga in Friday competition.

The Wooden Shoes won 25-19, 25-22. T-town was led by Molly Pals with four kills and seven points, Tia Probst with nine digs, four kills and eight assists, Kaitlyn Schumacher with two blocks and four kills and Emily Konkel with two blocks.

Neoga won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 16-25, 25-16. T-town was a winner in freshman play, 25-17, 25-15.

T-town's varsity is now 13-22 and will be in Class 2A Newton Regional action today against Marshall at 5:30 p.m.

At Pawnee

Altamont competed in the Pawnee Tournament Saturday and went 1-3.

Altamont fell to Meridian. The Indians won the first set, 25-18 but lost the next two, 25-18, 10-7.

Ellie McManaway and Ella Ruffner had 10 digs each for Altamont. Lauren Walker had two aces. Peyton Osteen had 13 assists. Ruffner had nine kills

Altamont fell to Unity, 25-13, 25-19. McManaway had nine digs, seven assists, one block and six kills. Tappendorf had one block.

Taylorville then claimed a 25-21, 25-20 victory. Altamont was led by Ruffner with eight digs, Tappendorf with three blocks and six kills and McManaway with five assists.

Altamont picked up its lone win over Edinberg, 25-20, 25-21.

Ruffner had 10 digs and nine kills while Tappendorf had four aces and two blocks. Osteen led in assists with nine.
