Effingham High School nabbed an Apollo Conference volleyball win over Charleston Tuesday evening.

 

The Hearts won the opener 25-18 before Charleston came back to take the second set, 25-15. EHS then won the match, 25-12.

Lexi Chrappa led EHS in kills with 10 and digs with 12. Tori Budde had 17 assists while Sidney Donaldson led in aces with three. Brueklyn Belcher, Krista Phillips and Donaldson had one block each.

In the junior varsity contest, Effingham was a winner, 25-9, 25-12.

The Hearts are back in action Thursday at Mahomet-Seymour Thursday.

At Toledo

Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Cumberland for a matchup with the Pirates Tuesday evening.

Cumberland claimed the opener, 25-23 but the Bulldogs rallied and came back with 25-18, 25-23 counts for the match. The Bulldogs are  now 19-6 on the season.

Lucy Fearday led the Bulldogs with 12 points, 14 kills, five aces and three blocks while Anna Faber led in assists with 30. 

In the junior varsity match, Cumberland captured the win, 26-24, 26-24.

At Toledo

At Teutopolis

Altamont handed Teutopolis a loss in varsity action Tuesday.

The Indians won in two sets, 25-16, 25-22. Ellie McManaway, Ella Ruffner and Peyton Osteen provided even action in digs with seven each. McManaway and Osteen had one ace each. Osteen led in assists with 13 while Ruffner led in kills with 13.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Jaden Deters and Tia Probst with five kills each, Emily Konkel with seven digs, Kaitlyn Schumacher with two blocks and  Probst with six assists.

Teutopolis claimed the junior varsity match, 21-25, 25-18, 25-16 and won the first freshman set 25-21 before Altamont took the second set, 29-27.

At St. Elmo

Shelbyville picked up a victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo in volleyball action Tuesday evening.

BSE won the opener 26-24 but the Rams came back with 25-13 and 25-20 scores for the match.

Leading BSE were Morgan Hall with eight kills and eight points, Peyton Garrard with 12 assists and 17 digs. Lillian Nolen had two aces.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City lost its opening set against Patoka, 25-21 but came back and pulled out a victory by 26-24, 26-24 counts.

Gracie Heckert led the winners in digs with 15 and points with 10. Tatyana Duckwitz also had 10 points and led in kills with 11 and aces with six. Raechelle Kelly led in assists with 11. Karlee Smith had four blocks.

Patoka was a winner in the junior varsity match, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14. CHBC won the freshman/sophomore contest, 25-21, 25-15.

At Cowden

At Sullivan

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg improved to 20-4 on the season by beating Sullivan in Tuesday evening action.

The Hatchets won 25-18, 25-11. Ella Kinkelaar led in aces with four, kills with six and assists with 14. Gabby Vonderheide had eight digs. Natalie Hayes and Halle Moomaw had one block assist each.

"Serving errors hurt us tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "But we played well overall."

Windsor/Stras also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-12, 26-24 to improve to 12-5.

Sullivan was a winner in freshman/sophomore action, 25-12, 25-18. WSS drops to 12-8-2.

At Louisville

North Clay defeated Oblong in varsity competition Tuesday evening. The Cardinals won 25-8, 25-17.

North Clay is now 19-10 on the season.

In the junior varsity match, North Clay was a winner, 25-23, 18-25, 15-7.

 

At Clay City

Clay City tallied a victory over Webber Township (Bluford), 25-18, 25-16 Tuesday evening.

Taylor PIttman led the Wolves in kills with 12 and had five blocks. Elaina Kessler led in aces with two and digs with three.

In junior varsity play, Clay City was a winner. Webber Township took the opener 25-23 but Clay City came back with 25-17, 16-14 counts for the match.
