Effingham St. Anthony captured its own Freshman/Sophomore Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

In the East Court, Newton defeated St. Anthony, 26-25, 25-19 while Newton won over Teutopolis, 25-17, 25-17 and St. Anthony beat Teutopolis, 25-20, 20-25, 16-14.

On the West Court, Effingham was a winner over Dieterich, 25-7, 25-15 while Greenville downed Dieterich, 25-20, 25-23 and then won over Effingham, 25-14, 25-22.

In the playoff bracket, Effingham defeated Teutopolis, 25-23, 25-19 while St. Anthony won over Dieterich, 25-22, 25-13. Effingham then beat Newton 22-25, 25-15, 15-13 and St. Anthony won over Greenville, 25-10, 25-22.

In the championship match, St. Anthony downed Effingham 25-22, 25-12. The third place match went to Newton over Greenville, 25-16, 25-20.

North Clay was the St. Elmo/Brownstown Frosh/Soph Tournament champions.

At St. Elmo

North Clay (Louisville) claimed the championship of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Freshman/Sophomore Tournament Saturday.

The Cardinals defeated Ramsey, 25-22, 25-24 then won over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-3, 25-6 before downing South Central, 25-22, 25-10.

North Clay finished first followed by South Central second and Okaw Valley third.

Named to the All-Tournament Team were Reagan Roberts and Jaylinn Mtichell of South Central, Kyleigh Wallace of Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Miah Ballard of North Clay, Zoe Johnson of Okaw Valley and Melody Ott of Ramsey.

South Central claimed second place at the St. Elmo/Brownstown Frosh/Soph Tournament.
