CLASS 7-1A WEST SALEM REGIONAL

Newton St. Thomas, Windsor and Stewardson-Strasburg advanced from Saturday action in the West Salem Regional.

Newton St. Thomas defeated West Salem 25-18, 25-22 in the opening match. Windsor then defeated Dieterich 25-14, 25-21. Stewardson-Strasburg had to go three games to beat Sigel St. Michael. St. Michael won the opener 25-13 but Stew-Stras came back with 28-26, 25-15 scores for the victory.

In Tuesday action. Effingham Sacred Heart will meet Newton St. Thomas at 5 p.m. followed by Windsor taking on Stew-Stras at 6:15. The winners then advance to the championship match at 7:30 p.m.

CLASS 7-2A FINDLAY OKAW VALLEY REGIONAL

In the opening match, Arcola defeated Ramsey 25-19, 21-25, 25-18. In the second match, Nokomis downed Findlay Okaw Valley 25-15, 25-20.

In tonight's matches, Arthur faces Arcola at 6 p.m. followed by Neoga taking on Nokomis at 7:15 p.m. The winners then advance to the title match Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

CLASS 2A EFFINGHAM ST. ANTHONY REGIONAL

Altamont, seeded fifth, upset Oblong. Oblong won the opener 25-22 but Altamont came back with 25-20, 25-23 victories.

Altamont now advances to face Edwards County (Albion) at 6 p.m. today followed by Effingham St. Anthony taking on Hutsonville at 7:15 p.m. The winners advance to a 7 p.m. championship match Wednesday.

CLASS 7-3A NEWTON JASPER COUNTY REGIONAL

Vandalia and Cumberland won opening round victories Saturday in the Jasper County Regional.

Vandalia defeated Cowden-Herrick 25-23, 25-23. In the second match, Cumberland won over Teutopolis 25-11, 25-27, 25-16.

Vandalia advanced to meet St. Elmo and St. Elmo was the winner 21-25, 25-16, 25-21. In the fourth match of the day, Cumberland defeated Jasper County 25-11, 25-27, 25-16.

St. Elmo and Cumberland will meet for the championship Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Class 7-3A Jasper County Regional

Cumberland Statistics -- Grimes, 1 ace, 1 kill, 2 digs, 3 assists; Volk, 1 ace, 1 dig; Walker, 1 kill; Michels, 2 kills, 2 digs; Wellbaum, 1 dig; Hemmen, 3 digs; Bloemer, 1 assist

CLASS 4-A EFFINGHAM REGIONAL

Effingham saw its season come to an end in its own regional Saturday.

The Mustangs defeated Danville North Ridge 25-18, 25-14 to advance to face Mattoon. Effingham then won the opener 25-22 but Mattoon came back 25-15, 25-22 to pull out the victory.

Urbana defeated Danville South View 25-15, 25-9 but lost to Charleston 25-18, 25-23.

Mattoon and Charleston will square off for the regional title Thursday at 6 p.m.

Class 7-4A Effingham  Regional
