ALTAMONT -- Effingham Junior High School was a winner in seventh and eighth-grade volleyball action at Altamont Thursday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade match, 25-15, 25-22 to improve to 17-2 on the season. Altamont dropped to 2-14.

In eighth-grade play, Effingham was a winner, 25-15, 25-22 and is now 11-5. Altamont fell to 12-5.

At Dieterich

Sigel St. Michael came calling and won both matches over Dieterich Thursday.

The Sharpshooters claimed the opening set of the seventh-grade match, 25-19. Dieterich nabbed the next set 25-14. St. Michael then won the match 25-20.

In eighth-grade play, St. Michael then downed Dieterich, 25-14, 25-14 in eighth-grade play.

At Farina

North Clay (Louisville) claimed both wins over South Central Thursday.

North Clay won the opening set in seventh-grade play, 25-15. But South Central rallied for a 25-20 victory. North Clay then claimed the match 25-7.

In the eighth-garde contest, South Central took the opener 25-19 but North Clay came back with 25-20, 25-20 wins for the match.

 

At Charleston

Jasper County picked up both wins over Charleston in Thursday competition.

Jasper County improved to 16-2 with 26-24, 25-23 wins in seventh-grade play.

In the eighth-grade match, Charleston won the opening set 25-15 but Jasper County came back for 25-11, 25-7 counts for the victory. Jasper County is now 8-7 on the season.

At Newton

Clay City was a winner over Newton St. Thomas in the eighth-grade match Thursday. Clay City won 29-27, 25-20.

In the seventh-grade match, St. Thomas claimed the win, 25-19, 25-13.

St. Thomas also nabbed the C match, 25-8, 25-11.
