Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City played host to Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high volleyball competition Tuesday and split victories.

CHBC won the seventh-grade match, 25-8, 25-23.

In eighth-grade action, Sacred Heart picked up the win, 25-15, 15-7.

At Cowden

Seventh-Grade Match

Sacred Heart -- Veach, 1 kill; Hohenbary, 1 kill, 3 aces; Thies, 1 kill, 1 assist; LaSarge, 2 kills, 1 ace; Haarman, 1 kill, 1 assist

At Newton

Effingham downed Newton St. Thomas in seventh-grade competition Tuesday, 25-10, 25-14. The win gives the Mustangs a 16-2 record.

In eighth-grade action, Newton St. Thomas won the opener 25-19 but the Mustangs came back with 25-22, 25-19 scores for the match. Effingham is now 10-5 on the season.

Efifngham returns to action Thursday at Altamont.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to Altamont and picked up two victories in Tuesday evening action.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade match, 25-9, 25-16 to improve to 6-10 on the season. Altamont dropped to 1-13.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was the winner again with 25-9, 25-16 counts and now stands at 12-4. Altamont falls to 12-4.

North Clay (Louisville) downed Dieterich in both seventh and eighth-grade play Tuesday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-13, 4-25, 25-20.

In the eighth-grade contest, North Clay was a winner, 25-11, 25-11.

Dieterich captured a sixth-grade match, 26-24, 30-27.

Casey-Westfield and Jasper County split victories in Tuesday play.

Jasper County improved its record to 15-2 with a win in the seventh-grade match. Jasper County took the opening set 25-19. Casey-Westfield came back to win 25-21. Jasper County then won the match, 25-13.

In eighth-grade action, Jasper County won the opener 25-23 but Casey-Westfield came back to take the next two sets, 25-18, 25-18. Jasper County dropped to 7-7.

At Newton

At Olney

Olney handed Clay City losses in seventh and eighth-grade action Tuesday.

Olney won the seventh-grade match, 26-24, 25-22.

In eighth-grade play, Olney won the opener 25-18. Clay City came back with a 25-14 victory. Olney then won the match, 15-12. Clay City dropped to 6-1 on the season.

In the C contest, Olney won 25-15 while Clay City was a winner, 25-19.

Clay City is back in action Thursday at Newton St. Thomas.
