EJHS Wins Albion 7th Grade Tournament, Takes Second Place in 8th Grade Tourney; Teutopolis Downs St. Elmo

Effingham Junior High School won the Albion 7th grade tournament Saturday, and finished second in the 8th grade tournament.

In the 7th grade tournament, Effingham beat Grayville 25-8, 25-8; downed Massac County 25-10, 25-9; and defeated Lovejoy for the championship 30-28, 25-12.

For Effingham, Madi Kirk 1 kill and 11 aces; Remmy Franklin two digs; Jessica Larsen three aces; Jerzi Bierman four kills, one ace; Reaghan Delong two kills, one ace; Bria Beals two kills, seven aces, two digs; Saige Althoff 14 kills, two assists, four aces, nine digs; Sarah Hirtzel two assists, three aces; Layni Frey three kills, three assists, two aces; Kristen Armstrong three kills, one assist; Hannah Thompson two kills, 20 assists, two aces, two digs; Kelcey Stone one kill, one ace, one dig; Sidney Donaldson five kills, five aces, three digs; Mya Harvey three kills, one assist, seven aces, one dig.

The Effingham 7th graders are now 11-1 on the season.

In the 8th grade tournament, Effingham beat Grayville 25-19, 25-21; defeated Lawrenceville 25-18, 25-22; and lost in the championship match to Massac County 25-17, 15-25, 13-15.

For Effingham: Angela Ballman two kills, two assists, five aces, 16 digs; Raegan Boone six kills, 33 assists, 10 aces, seven digs; Raylen Hardiek one ace; Olivia Katt 11 kills, nine aces, eight digs; Addison Holste four kills, three assists, one dig; Kaydee Borton four kills, four assists, eight aces, 14 digs; Gabby Haslett one kill, one assist; Reagan O'Dell 15 kills, two assists, five digs; Lexi McCoy 11 kills, three assists, five aces, two digs; Olivia Raddatz one kill; Charly Kreke two aces.

The Effingham 8th graders are now 7-5 on the season.

Teutopolis won the 7th and 8th grade matches with St. Elmo Friday.

Teutopolis won the 8th grade match 25-21, 25-19, and won the 7th grade match 25-5, 25-19. The Teutopolis 8th graders are 10-1; the 7th graders are 4-7.
