Effingham St. Anthony claimed two wins over Cumberland in junior high girls volleyball competition Friday.

In the seventh-grade match, the Bullpups won the opener 25-18 before Cumberland took the second set, 25-9. St. Anthony then had a 25-11 final set for the match victory.

In the eighth-grade match, St. Anthony again won the opener 25-18. Cumberland came back with the second set, 25-9. The Bullpups won 25-11 for the match.

At Toledo

Seventh-Grade Match

St. Anthony -- Faber, 1 ace, 3 points; Nuxoll, 3 kills, 4 aces, 11 points; Kabbes, 4 points; Scheidemantel, 2 kills, 2 aces, 14 points; Miller, 1 point; Nuxoll, 1 point

Eighth-Grade Match

St. Anthony -- Coffin, 1 kill, 1 block, 5 assists, 4 points; Rudolphi, 5 kills, 2 aces, 6 points; Passaclaqua, 3 assists; M. Kibler, 9 kills, 4 aces, 6 points; Niebrugge, 1 kill, 1 ace, 3 assists, 2 points; S. Kibler, 1 kill, 1 ace, 8 points; Niemeyer, 4 kills, 1 block, 1 point

 

At Effingham

Effingham picked up two wins over Robinson Nuttall Friday.

The Mustangs won in two sets, 25-15, 25-10 in seventh-grade play to improve to 5-1.

In the eighth-grade contest, Robinson Nuttall took the opener, 25-18. The Mustangs came back with 25-21, 25-19 victories for the match.

Newton St. Thomas came calling and claimed three wins over Dieterich in Friday competition.

St. Thomas was a 25-9, 25-13 winner in the seventh-grade match.

In eighth-grade play, St. Thomas picked up the win 25-12, 25-8.

The sixth-grade contest went to St. Thomas, 20-9, 20-15.

At Louisville

North Clay improved its seventh and eighth grade records to 2-0 on the season with victories over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Friday.

North Clay was a 25-10, 25-18 winner in the seventh-grade match.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay won 25-8, 25-17.

 

At Newton

Newton St. Thomas lost twice in its own invitational Saturday.

Paris Crestwood downed the homestanders, 25-21, 21-25, 15-10.

St. Thomas then lost 25-5, 25-14. No opponent was listed.
