Effingham St. Anthony claimed victories over Newton St. Thomas in junior high volleyball action Thursday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest. St. Thomas took the first set 25-16 but St. Anthony came back with 25-9, 15-11 counts for the win.

In eighth-grade action, St. Thomas again took the opener 25-23 but St. Anthony rallied to take the next two sets 25-18, 25-22 for the match.

At Sacred Heart

Effingham Sacred Heart and Stewardson-Strasburg each picked up a victory in Thursday evening competition.

In the seventh-grade match, Stew-Stras was a winner 25-12, 25-16.

The eighth-grade match went to the Shamrocks, 25-12, 25-23.

There was a fifth-sixth grade match contested with Sacred Heart winning, 25-23, 25-16.

At Newton

Jasper County picked up two victories over Altamont in Thursday evening play.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade contest, 26-24, 25-15. Altamont dropped to 2-1 while Jasper County improved to a perfect 5-0.

In the eighth-grade match, Jasper County was a winner, 26-24 and 25-15. Jasper County sports a 4-1 record while Altamont dropped to 2-1.

Casey-Westfield came calling and picked up both seventh and eighth grade victores Thursday.

Casey-Westfield won the seventh-grade match, 25-20, 25-21. T-town dropped to 3-4.

In eighth-grade play, Casey-Westfield was a 25-17, 25-22 winners. T-town dropped to 6-1.

North Clay picked up victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade match, 25-16, 25-23 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay was a wnner, 25-8, 25-23 and also improves to 2-0.
