Effingham High School handed Mattoon an Apollo Conference volleyball loss Tuesday.

The Hearts won 25-17 before Mattoon claimed a 25-23 set. The Hearts then claimed the match, 25-19.

Alexis Chrappa led EHS in kills with 13 while Jacy Boatman had 12. Taylor O'Dell tallied 19 assists and Hayley Dively 14. Boatman and Morgan Hagler had two aces ach. Boatman led in digs with 21 while Olivia Martin and Chrappa had 17 each. Kennedy Sowell led in blocks with two.

In junior varsity action, Mattoon picked up the victory, 25-15, 25-18.

In a freshman contest, Mattoon won the opener 21-13 but the Hearts came back with 21-17, 15-9 victories.

Dieterich tallied a victory over Oblong in action Tuesday.

The Movin' Maroons won 25-18, 15-25, 25-22. Gabi Hardiek had 10 kills for the Maroons while Emily Bloemer led in assists with 11. Allie Poe and Bloemer had five aces each. Kaitlyn Boerngen led in digs with 14. Bloemer and Iva Lilly had one block each.

Oblong claimed the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-18.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed a victory over Robinson Tuesday. The Wooden Shoes won 25-10, 25-16 to improve to 18-15 on the season.

"What a diffference a day makes," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "We are at the other extreme tonight. As bad as we were last night, we were that good tonight. Whatever we did worked tonight. We only gave away seven points."

The Wooden Shoes also claimed the junior varsity match, 26-24, 25-20 and split in freshman play. Robinson won 25-20 and T-town won 25-20.

At St. Elmo

The Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament continued Tuesday.

St. Elmo/Brownstown handed Ramsey a 25-22, 25-21 loss. Patoka then defeated Ramsey, 22-25, 25-21, 25-22.

SEB won over Mulberry Grove, 25-22, 25-8. Patoka finished out with a 25-21, 25-21 victory over Mulberry Grove.

SEB and Patoka are 2-0 while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is 1-1. Ramsey ended at 2-2 and Mulberry Grove finished at 0-4.

The final night of the tournament is Thursday with CHBC against Patoka at 6 p.m., SEB taking on Patoka at 7 and CHBC against SEB at 8.
