EHS Beats T-town, Volleyball Roundup

TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham High School lost the opener against Teutopolis in varsity volleyball action Monday evening, but came back to take the match.

The Wooden Shoes took the opening set, 26-24. The Hearts then came back with 25-19, 25-19 victories for the match.

Hayley Dively had 32 assists for the Hearts, two aces and two blocks. Alexis Chrappa led in kills with 15 and digs with 12. Jacy Boatman also had 12 digs.

T-town was led by Holly Heuerman with 11 digs. Ciara Repking and Carly Michels had nine points each. Erica Michels had 11 kills.

The Hearts also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-13, 17-25, 25-19 to improve to 3-4. T-town was a winner in the freshman match, 22-25, 25-14, 15-9.

Dieterich claimed a varsity match victory over Mulberry Grove Monday.

The Movin' Maroons won 25-13, 25-9. Allie Poe had eight aces while Gabi Hardiek has 12 kills. Emily Bloemer led in assists with eight.

Dieterich also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-5.

At Farina

Altamont improved its National Trail Conference record to 3-0 and it's overall mark to 10-0 with a victory over South Central Monday.

The Indians won 25-10, 25-9. Pemberton led in kills with eight while Mette had 14 digs. McManaway had three aces and 17 assists.

Altamont was a winner in junior varsity action, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17 and improves to 1-2 in the conference, 8-4 overall.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown went three sets before beating Ramsey in competition Monday evening.

The Eagles won the opener 25-15 before Ramsey came back to take the second set, 25-21. SEB then won the match, 25-21.

Leading in kills were Cassidy Moss and Natalie Oberlink with six each. Oberlink led in aces with six, points with 12 and two blocked shots. Vayda Smith had 25 digs.

At St. Elmo

Clay City claimed a varsity win over Oblong. Oblong won the opener 25-21 but Clay City came back with 25-19, 25-23 counts for the match Monday.

Malorie Craig had 17 serves, five aces and eight kills while Hailey Miller had 15 serves, five aces and eight kills.
