Effingham Junior High School claimed the Silver Bracket championship of the Crossroads Classic Eighth-Grade Volleyball Tournament Saturday.

 

Effingham defeated Edwards County (Albion) 25-19, 25-20, lost to Mount Pulaski 25-18, 25-17, defeated St. Rose 18-25, 25-14, 25-16 and downed Prairieview Ogden 23-25, 25-16, 25-13.

The Mustangs are now 17-2 on the season.

Charleston Tournament

Teutopolis competed in the Charleston Middle School Tournament and picked up two victories and suffered one loss Saturday.

T-town won the opener, 22-25, 25-13, 15-14 over Mattoon. The Wooden Shoes then claimed a win over host Charleston, 25-21, 12-25, 15-14.

In the final match, T-town fell to Champaign Jefferson, 25-22, 23-25, 15-8.

T-town is now 10-9 on the season and returns to action Tuesday against Trinity Lutheran at 4:30 p.m.

At Dieterich

Dieterich fell to Neoga in both seventh and eighth grade action Friday.

Neoga won the seventh-grade contest 25-19, 15-25, 25-15.

In eighth-grade action, Neoga picked up the victory, 25-20, 25-20.

In sixth-grade play, Dieterich won 37-33.

In action Saturday, St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Dieterich, 25-17, 25-17.
