MAHOMET -- Effingham High School picked up an Apollo Conference win over Mahomet-Seymour Tuesday in volleyball action.

The Hearts won 25-19, 25-12 to improve to 9-9 on the season.

Kiyah Kuhlman led in kills with seven. Carsyn Fearday led in assists with 16. Hayley Diveley had three aces. Kuhlman and Natalie Carie had two blocks each. Miranda Fox led in digs with eight.

The Hearts also won the junior varsity match, 25-17, 25-16 and is 9-2. EHS lost in the freshman match, 24-22, 9-21, 15-12.

At St. Anthony

St. Anthony claimed varsity and junior varsity wins over St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won the varsity match, 25-22, 25-15. Anna Jones led in points with eight. Sydney Gibson led in kills with nine. Abby Stock had 22 assists and five blocks. Katie Kabbes had nine points.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity match, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22. St. Elmo/Brownstown claimed the freshman contest, 25-23, 25-22.

At Pana

Teutopolis picked up another victory, this one over Pana, 25-22, 26-24 in varsity play Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Emma Deters with three blocks, Katelyn Jansen with nine digs. Savannah Grimes had 13 assists. Erica Michels led in kills with 10.

"Another win over a very good volleyball program," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "It wasn't pretty. We split 19 unforced errors between the two sets. We had 10 service errors and only three aces so we didn't help oursevles too much at the service line. Fortunately our offense was good enough to carry us to the win. We had 27 kills and another nine points off blocks. The girls are playing with lots of confidence."

T-town improved to 15-6 on the season.

At Altamont

Altamont handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a National Trail Conference loss Tuesday.

The Indians won 25-13, 25-14. Jackman led in kills with seven while Grimsley had 10 digs and three aces. Kuhns led in assists with 13. The Indians are now 3-2 in the conference, 10-7 overall.

CHBC was led by Jaque Witteborg with 10 digs and Paeton Underwood with two assists. The Bobcats drop to 7-7 on the season.

Altamont won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-16 and is 5-0 in the conference, 8-0 overall.

The Indians also nabbed a frehsman/sophomore match, 25-6, 25-8.

Newton tallied a win over Cumberland in both varsity and junior varsity play Tuesday.

The Eagles won 25-11, 25-21 to improve to 10-4 on the season. Hemrich led in aces with three and assists with 16. Probst had six kills; Geltz tallied six digs.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg remained unbeaten in National Trail Conference play with a win over Neoga Tuesday.

The Hatchets won 25-19, 25-14 to improve to 5-0 in the conference, 10-3 overall. Mackenzi Tabbert led in aces with four and assists with 19. Megan Schlechte led in kills with nine and digs with seven.

"Service errors killed us in the first set," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Our stats were spread out tonight which makes for a fun game. Still wanting our offense cleaned up a bit. We are strong but we don't always make the right choices."

The Hatchets won the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-21 to improve to 7-1. WSS took an exhibition match, 25-17, 25-11, 22-8.
