Seventh-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- March 1

Effingham's seventh-grade volleyball team saw its season come to a close with a loss to Mount Zion in the Class 7-4A Effingham Regional Thursday evening.

Mount Zion won the opener 25-19 but the Mustangs came back with a 25-22 victory. Mount Zion then claimed the match 25-23.

The Mustangs finish their season with an 18-3 record.

Class 7-4A Effingham Regional

Effingham -- Niebrugge, 2 kills, 7 digs; Waymoth, 2 kills, 2 aces, 1 dig; Woomer, 1 dig; Beck, 5 kills, 1 block, 1 dig; Hefner, 6 assists, 1 ace, 12 digs; Davis, 2 kills, 17 assists, 1 ace, 1 dig; Allie, 10 kills, 3 aces, 2 digs; R. Cunningham, 3 kills, 3 digs; Jiang, 7 kills, 1 ace, 11 digs

 

Class 2A North Clay (Louisville) Regional

South Central claimed the championship of the North Clay Regional Thursday.

South Central downed Effingham St. Anthony, 25-18, 25-12.

South Central advances to the St. Elmo/Brownstown Sectional against Findlay Okaw Valley at 6:30 p.m. Monday The winner advances to the Stae Tournament March 9-10.

 

 Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael  Regional

Grayville handed Sigel St. Michael a loss in the championship match of the St. Michael Regional Thursday.

Grayville picked up the match, 25-13, 26-24.

 

Class 7-2A Findlay Okaw Valley Regional

Findlay Okaw Valley won its own regional championship.

Okaw Valley handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a loss in two sets, 25-5, 25-15.

 

Class 7-3A Cumberland Regional

Jasper County finished season play in the Cumberland Regional championship match Thursday.

Marshall downed Jasper County, 25-22, 25-12. Jasper County finished the season at 7-15.

Class 7-3A Cumberland Regional

Jasper County -- Oldham, 2 aces, 3 kills; Shull, 4 kills, 2 blocks, 1 dig; Dhom, 1 kill; Utley, 1 kill; Whitaker, 3 assists; Kocher, 2 assists; Kirts, 3 digs

 

Class 7-3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Shelbyville Moulton won its own regional.

The homestanders lost the opener 26-24 but came back to beat Arthur, 25-8-, 25-3 for the championship.
