Altamont, C'land, T-town, SEB, WSS, Newton, S. Central Claim Volleyball Wins

RAMSEY -- Altamont High School handed Ramsey a loss in two quick sets, 25-12, 25-13 in volleyball action Monday evening.

Mette led the way in kills with seven and aces with four. Grimsley had eight digs. Hoene finished with 10 assists. Jackman and Mette had four blocks each. Altamont now sports a 13-5 record.

The Indians also claimed the junior varsity match 25-16, 25-22 to improve to 11-3.

At Ramsey

At Dieterich

Cumberland came calling and tallied two victories over Dieterich in competition Monday.

The Pirates won the varsity match 25-20, 25-20. Dieterich was led by Lauren Garbe with seven kills and nine digs. Hannah Hunzinger had 12 assists. Nicole Flood had three aces.

In the junior varsity match, Cumberland was a winner 25-13, 25-16.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis fell to North Clay (Louisville) in the opening set 25-23 but came roaring back with 25-18, 25-4 counts for the victory.

Macy Michels led the Wooden Shoes in blocks with seven and points with 23. She also had six aces. Savannah Grimes had 15 digs. Jolene Bueker led in kills with nine.

"We got off to a horrible start with six unforced errors in the first three rotations," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "In the first set we had a total of 13 unforced errors, mostly hitting but we also missed a couple passes. Our offense finally got started but we couldn't overcome that early deficut and fell. Set two was better. We were up by as many as 11 points before a late rally by North Clay closed the gap somewhat. Set three was dominate. Macy scored 21 points in one rotation. She had six aces but Jolene hit a hot streak and chipped in six kills in that same span."

The sophomores and juniors won the first set of the junior varsity match 25-10 before the freshmen took the second set 25-15.

At Teutopolis

At Patoka

St. Elmo/Brownstown took a win over Patoka in three sets. SEB won the opener 25-12 but Patoka came back with a 25-20 win in the second set. The third set went to SEB 27-25.

Marlee Nolen led the winners in kills with eight. Madison Carson had 11 assists. Deana Shelton led in aces with five. Katelyn Maxey had 18 digs. Carson and Natalie Oberlink had two blocked shots each. Nolen, Dana Shelton and De. Shelton had eight points each.

At Patoka

At Shelbyville

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg had to go three sets but pulled out a victory over Shelbyville in action Monday.

The Hatchets won the opener 25-16 but Shelbyville came back with a 25-17 second set. WSS then took the final set 25-21 to improve to 11-2 on the season.

"Both teams had to battle tonight," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "We were on a bit of a roller coaster. We played really good at times and then we struggled on serve receive. Megan had a really good night. She was able to put some very nice shots down. We played the net well also as we should with our size. Still dealing with injuries and health issues so it will be nice when we can get everyone back."

Megan Schlechte had 21 kills and six digs. Mackenzi Tabbert had 20 assists and two blocked shots. Mackenzee Reynolds had five block assists.

Windsor/Stew-Stras fell in the varsity match 25-15, 25-15 to drop to 9-3.

The Hatchets won the freshman/sophomore match 26-24, 26-24 and is 7-4.

At Shelbyville

 At Newton

Newton was a winner in two sets, 25-18, 25-13 over Salem in action Monday.

The Eagles were led by Hemrich with four aces and eight assists, Frohning with seven kills and eight digs and Earnest with two blocks. Newton is now 14-6 on the season.

In the junior varsity contest, Salem was a winner 25-18, 25-17.

At Salem

At Farina

South Central played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and sent the Bobcats home with a 25-9, 25-19 losses.

The Cougars were led by MacKenzie Potter with 11 points and two aces. Serina Lee had five kills and three digs. South Central improves to 3-3 in the National Trail Conference, 7-14 overall.

CHBC was led by Haley Atchley with three kills, Lauren Wojcik with two aces, Kylee Bertin with four assists and Olivia Witteborg with nine digs.

In junior varsity play, South Central won 25-18, 25-14 to improve to 4-5. The freshman/sophomore team also won 25-21, 19-25, 15-13 and is 2-1-3.

At Farina
