LINCOLN -- Effingham High School fell to Lincoln in volleyball competition Tuesday evening.

Lincoln picked up the victory 25-11, 25-20. EHS falls to 0-3 in the Apollo Conference, 3-8 overall.

Miranda Fox led the Hearts with 13 digs while Chloe Martin had four kills. Carsyn Fearday led in assists with four.

Effingham won the junior varsity match 25-21, 25-13 to improve to 5-4. Lincoln claimed the freshman/sophomore match 25-15, 25-13. EHS drops to 2-4.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony swept through both varsity and junior varsity play with victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in National Trail Conference play Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won the varsity match 25-8, 25-14. The Bulldogs were led by Meg Richards with six kills, Sydney Gibson with three aces and seven points, Marci Mills with five kills, three aces and 10 points and Katie Kabbes with three aces.

Allie Stell led CHBC with two aces while Lauren Wojcik had two kills. Olivia Witteborg led in digs with three. CHBC dropped to 4-5.

In the junior varsity contest, St. Anthony was a winner 25-17, 25-12.

At Altamont

Altamont handed Neoga National Trail Conference losses Tuesday evening.

Altamont won the varsity match 25-14, 25-20 to improve to 3-1 in the conference, 9-1 overall. Jackman had eight kills and three blocks while Grimsley and Mette and six digs each. H. Wolff tallied seven aces. Hoene had nine assists.

Altamont also nabbed the junior varsity contest 25-21, 25-12 to improve to 4-0 in the conference, 6-0 overall.

At Dieterich

Dieterich lost the opening set but came back to down St. Elmo/Brownstown in action Tuesday.

SEB tallied a 25-20 victory in the opener. The Movin' Maroons then rallied with 26-24 and 25-19 wins for the match. Lauren Garbe had 10 kills, six aces and four blocks for the winners. Jenny Robards had 10 assists and 15 digs.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Marlee Nolen with seven kills, 13 points and seven aces, Madison Carson with 11 assists and 11 points and Katelyn Maxey with 16 digs.

SEB claimed a win in junior varsity action, 25-16, 15-25, 25-19.

Newton picked up a victory over Charleston 25-8, 25-20. The Eagles are now 8-4 on the season.

Geltz and Hemrich had two aces each while Frohning and Probst had four kills each. Hemrich led in assists with eight. Earnest had two blocks. Geltz led in digs with eight.

Newton won the junior varsity match 15-25, 25-17, 25-23. The two teams split freshman contests with Newton winning 25-21 and Charleston winning 25-22.
