NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony High School picked up a volleyball victory over Neoga Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won in two sets, 25-22, 25-16 to improve to 4-4. Meg Richards had eight kills and one block, Marci Mills seven kills and one block and Sydney Gibson five kills. Sophie Moore tallied 14 points.

Neoga was led by Mary Hill with nine kills, three digs and three blocks. Olivia Titus had five digs. Aly Easton led in assists with seven

In junior varsity play, the Bulldogs won 25-21, 25-23. St. Anthony also took a freshman match 23-25, 25-22, 25-20.

At Taylorville

The Hearts of Effingham traveled to Taylorville and fell 25-11, 25-13. EHS drops to 0-2 in the Apollo Conference, 2-2 overall.

Jordan Christy had eight digs while Aly Armstrong had seven digs and two assists. Carsyn Fearday tallied two assists.

In junior varsity play, the Tornadoes were a winner in three, 18-25, 25-21, 25-16. EHS drops to 3-4.

In freshman/sophomore play, Taylorville won the opener 25-23 and was leading 18-15 in the second match when it ended due to time constraits.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City downed St. Elmo/Brownstown in varsity action Tuesday.

CHBC opened the varsity match with a 25-20 win but SEB came back to win 25-22. CHBC then took the final set 27-25.

Leading the winners were Kylee Bertin with 10 assists and 16 digs, Olivia Witteborg with 26 digs, Lauren Wojcik with six aces, six kills and two blocks and Haley Atchley with seven kills and 15 digs.

SEB was led by Nolan with six kills and 10 digs. Maxey had 18 digs while Dena Shelton had 17. Deana Shelton led in points with five.

Altamont picked up a victory over North Clay (Louisville) in action Tuesday.

The Indians lost the opening set 25-19 but came back with 25-9 and 25-13 victories for the match. Jackman had eight kills and three blocks. Mette had three blocks and four aces. Simmons had four aces, Grimsley had 18 digs and Kuhns and Hoene eight assists each. The Indians are 7-0.

Altamont also won the junior varsity match 25-2, 20-25, 25-17 to improve to 3-0.

Teutopolis defeated Sullivan in two sets, 25-12, 25-17 in action Tuesday evening.

Julia Frye led in blocks with nine, had 10 kills and nine assists for the Wooden Shoes. Katelyn Jansen led in digs with five. Macy Michels had seven points.

"It was nice to get a win tonight," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "Sullivan struggled with their serve receive and we scored some easy points with our serve but we made plenty of mistakes on our attacks. Our middles dominated at the net."

The T-town junior varsity also won, 25-6, 25-8.

South Central picked up a victory over Dieterich in play Tuesday evening.

The Cougars won 25-23, 25-21 to improve to 2-1 in the National Trail Conference, 4-4 overall. Zoe Johnston had 13 points, three aces, two kills, three assists and two digs for the winners. Keely Smith led in kills with four.

Dieterich was led by Lauren Garbe with nine kills and two blocoks, Jenny Robards with 12 assists, Hannah Hunzigner with four digs and Nicole Flood with three aces.

South Central won the junior varsity contest 25-7, 25-13.
