Cumberland is the lone area school heading to state in junior high volleyball competition.

Cumberland claimed the championship of the Class 7-3A Teutopolis Sectional Monday evening. Cumberland defeated Jasper County 25-12, 25-15 for the title.

Cumberland advances to face Tolono Unity with a 21-1 record. Tolono Unity has a 21-3 mark. The two squads will meet Saturday at 2:15 p.m. in the Class 7-3A State Tournament at Downs Tri-Valley High School.

The winner of that match will advance to semifinals at 5:15 p.m.

Class 7-3A Teutopolis Sectional

Jasper County -- Ochs, 4 aces; Russell, 1 ace, 1 kill, 1 assist, 2 digs; Kessler, 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 dig; Weidner, 2 kills; Kidwell, 1 kill, 1 dig; Carr, 3 assists; Mtichell, 3 digs; Huddleston, 3 digs

 

Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Sectional

Grayville captured the championship of the Sigel St. Michael Sectional.

Grayville defeated host St. Michael 25-16, 25-14. Grayville advances to the Class 1A State Tournament Saturday.

 

Class 7-2A Neoga Sectional

Hutsonville claimed the Neoga Sectional championship.

Hutsonville defeated Edwards County (Albion), 25-15, 25-19. Hutsonville now advances to the Class 7-2A State Tournament Saturday.

 

Class 7-4A Effingham Sectional

Champaign Edison picked up the championship of the Effingham Sectional Monday evening.

Champaign Edison defeated Charleston 25-12, 25-18. Edison advances to the Class 7-4A State Tournament Saturday.
