WSS, T-town, Dieterich, Altamont Nab Volleyball Victories

FARINA -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg High School nabbed a National Trail Conference victory over South Central in a match of the unbeatens Monday evening.

The Hatchets won 25-16, 25-19 to improve to 4-0 in the conference, 9-3 overall.

"The girls played really well for the most part," said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. "Some hitting errors and passing errors that could have been cleaned up but pretty happy with their intensity.  This was a big game tonight as far as the conference goes and they did it."

Becca Schlechte led in aces with three and assists with 21 for the winners. Carson Cole had 12 digs. Megan Schlechte led in kills with 12.

Kendall Burleyson and Hannah Rubin had six points each for the Cougars. Burleyson also led in assists with six and had three kills. Emily Chapman had three kills and Kacie Crain led in digs with 12.

South Central drops to 4-1 in the conference, 12-4 overall.

WSS also won the junior varsity match 22-25, 25-14, 25-21. South Central claimed the frosh/soph match 25-22, 25-18.

At Farina

At Greenville

Teutopolis handed Greenville a loss in three sets. The Wooden Shoes won the opener 25-16. Greenville came back with a 25-20 win in the second set. T-town then went out 25-14.

The Shoes were led in by Savannah Grimes with nine points, 11 assists and seven kills, Jolene Bueker with eight digs and seven kills. Macy Michels with 11 kills and five blocks. Jessica Drees with seven kills and nine assists. The Shoes are now 9-7.

T-town also nabbed the junior varsity match in three, 28-26, 17-25, 25-19 to remain unbeaten at 8-0.

At Greenville

The Movin' Maroons of Dieterich evened their record to 7-7 with a 25-16, 25-19 win over North Clay (Louisville).

Madison Bannick and Allyssa Boerngen had five digs each for the Maroons. Lauren Garbe led in aces with three. Sydnie Vahling had nine kills. Hannah Hunzinger led in assists with 16. Vahling and Garbe had one block each.

North Clay was led by Darcy Fender with five blocks. Rachel Wiley had three digs.

"Our serves and our passes hurt us in the varsity game," said North Clay Coach Kaylee McCollum. "Looking to the future, we need to keep our serves in the court and our passes off the net."

North Clay captured the junior varsity match 25-22, 25-13. Dieterich drops to 0-9.

At Flora

Altamont lost the opener to Flora 25-17 but came back with 25-22 and 15-11 counts for the match win.

T. Paquette led in kills with seven and blocks with four for the Indians while Grimsley had 16 digs. Hoene had 11 assists.

Altamont improved to 4-7 overall.

In junior varsity action, Flora was a winner 26-24, 25-17. Altamont drops to 4-3.
