NTC Tournament Opens Play

Stewardson-Strasburg, South Central and St. Elmo picked up two victories each in opening round play of the National Trail Conference Volleyball Tournament at St. Anthony High School's Enlow Center and St. Anthony Grade School's Goff Gym Thursday evening.

South Central and St. Elmo were winners in Pool C action at Goff Gym. South Central downed Brownstown 23-25, 25-12, 25-13 and Cowden-Herrick 25-14, 25-16.

St. Elmo picked up victories over Cowden-Herrick 25-13, 25-20 and Brownstown 25-21, 25-10.

In Pool B play, Stew-Stras downed Beecher City 25-7, 25-14 and Altamont 25-22, 25-21. Windsor downed Altamont in two games, 25-22, 25-22. Windsor defeated Beecher City 25-10, 25-7.

Tonight's action will be Pool B and C play at the Enlow Center. Cowden-Herrick takes on Brownstown at 5 p.m. followed by Stew-Stras against Windsor at 6, South Central meeting St. Elmo at 7 and Altamont against Beecher City at 8.

In Pool A action, St. Anthony faces Dieterich at 5 followed by Neoga taking on Dieterich at 6 and St. Anthony meeting Neoga at 7.

Flight play will finish out the tournament Saturday beginning with the Bronze Flight at 10 a.m. followed by Silver Flight play at 1 p.m. and Gold Flight action at 5 p.m.
