CHARLESTON -- Effingham Junior High School saw its season come to a close in the Class 8-4A Charleston Volleyball Regional Thursday evening.

The Mustangs fell to Tolono Unity, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19. Effingham finishes with a 16-7 record.

Tolono Unity advances to the Urbana Sectional Monday.

At Charleston

Effingham -- Stortzum, 1 ace, 1 dig; Martin, 10 kills, 8 digs; Krouse, 11 digs, 1 assist; Huss, 1 ace, 1 dig; Gouchenouer, 2 kills, 1 block; Kull, 1 dig, 6 assists; O'Dell, 2 kills, 3 aces, 1 dig, 12 assists; Budde, 1 kill, 3 aces, 12 digs; Niebrugge, 7 kills, 1 block

 

Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional

Sigel St. Michael captured the champioinship of its own regional Thursday evening.

St. Michael defeated Martinsville 25-22, 25-12. The Sharpshooters advance to their own sectional Monday at 6 p.m. and will face Grayville.

 

Class 8-2A Neoga Regional

Paris Crestwood captured the championship of this regional over Findlay Okaw Valley.

Crestwood took the win after losing the opener 25-20 and coming back with 25-18, 25-15 counts.

Paris Crestwood advances to the St. Elmo Sectional Monday against Edwards County (Albion) at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Shelbyville Moulton won its own regoinal in three sets over Cumberland.

Cumberland won the opener 25-20 but Moulton came back with 25-19, 25-13 counts for the regional title. Moulton advances to the Cubmerland Sectional Monday against Paris Mayo at 6 p.m.

 

Class 8-3A Paris Mayo Regional

Paris Mayo nabbed its own regional title but had to go three sets against Marshall.

Mayo won the opener 25-13 but Marshall came back to tie the match with a 25-21 score. Paris Mayo then went out 25-22.

Mayo will now face Shelbyville Moulton at 6 p.m. Monday at the Cumberland Sectional.

 

At Iuka

North Clay (Louisville) handed Iuka two losses in regular season action Thursday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade match 25-8, 22-25, 15-9. In eighth-grade play, North Clay was a winner 25-14, 27-25.
