Junior High Volleyball Regionals -- March 1

Effingham Junior High School saw its season come to a close in the Class 7-4A Effingham Volleyball Regional Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won the opener 25-23 but Tolono Unity came back with 25-15, 25-21 scores for the match victory. EJHS finishes the season with a 13-10 record.

In the other contest, Charleston beat Mattoon 25-20, 25-18.

Charleston will face Tolono Unity tonight at 4:30 for the regional championship.

At Effingham

Effingham -- Hagler, 1 kill, 7 digs, 1 assist; Wittenburg, 10 digs, 1 assist; Diveley, 2 kills, 2 aces, 7 digs, 8 assists; Hodges, 1 kill, 3 digs, 4 assists; Morrissey, 1 dig; Stone, 2 digs, 1 block; Jones, 3 kills, 1 ace, 6 digs; Armstrong, 12 kills, 2 aces, 1 dig

 

Class 7-1A Newton  St. Thomas Regional

Dieterich fell to Grayville in the championship game of this regional Tuesday.

Grayville took the opener 25-9 then came back with a 25-8 count for the victory. Grayville advances to the Sigel St. Michael Sectional against either Effingham Sacred Heart or Martinsville March 7 at 6 p.m. Sacred Heart and Martinsville meet tonight for the regional title at Martinsville.

Dieterich ended the season with a 4-16 record.

At Newton

Dieterich -- Schmidt, 1 dig; Hardiek, 2 aces, 1 dig; Bierman, 1 ace; Poe, 2 digs; Hall, 1 dig; Boerngen, 1 ace

 

Class 7-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

Paris Mayo claimed a victory over Jasper County in the first match of the night. Jasper County won the opener 25-19 but Paris Mayo came back to take a 26-24 win. Paris Mayo then took the match 25-23.

In the second contest, host Robinson Nuttall downed Lawrenceville Parkview 25-18, 25-17.

Paris Mayo and Robinson Nuttall meet for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.

At Robinson

Jasper County -- Chapman, 3 points, 2 aces, 6 assists, 1 kill; Einhorn, 1 dig; Frichtl, 5 points, 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 block; Kinder, 11 points, 6 aces, 5 assists, 1 kill, 2 digs; Michl, 7 points, 6 kills; Murray, 8 points, 1 ace, 2 kills; Parr, 10 points, 5 aces, 6 kills, 1 dig

 

Class 7-3A Pana Regional

Host Pana took the opening match over Arthur 25-15, 25-9.

The second contest saw Shelbyville Moulton end Cumberland's season 25-17, 26-24.

Pana and Shelbyville Moulton will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. for the regional championship.
