Jasper County came calling and claimed victories over Dieterich in junior high school volleyball competition Friday.

Jasper County won the seventh-grade match 25-16, 25-18. Dieterich dropped to 3-16.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County won 25-16, 25-20. Dieterich fell to 4-15.

Class 7-1A Martinsville Regional

In regional competition Saturday at  Martinsville, fifth-seeded Windsor claimed a 25-23, 25-17 win over fourth-seeded Sigel St. Michael.

Winsor then advanced to face top-seeded Effingham Sacred Heart and fell 27-25, 25-22. In the third match, Martinsville downed Stewardson-Strasburg 25-23, 15-25, 25-12.

Sacred Heart will now face Martinsville at 6 p.m. Wednesday for the regional championship.

Class 7-1A Newton St. Thomas Regional

Grayville defeated West Salem in three sets. Grayville won the opener 25-7 then West Salem claimed the win 26-24 before Grayville came back with a 25-12 count.

Dieterich was a winner over Newton St. Thomas 25-23, before losing 25-12 then winning 25-19.

Dieterich will face Grayville tonight at 6 for the regional championship.

 

Class 7-2A Edwards County (Albion) Regional

It will be Altamont vs. Edwards County for the championship of this regional Thursday at 6 p.m.

In action Saturday, St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Hutsonville, 25-27, 25-9, 25-23.

St. Elmo then advanced to face top-seeded Edwards County and fell 25-15, 25-17.

Altamont was a winner over Oblong 25-13, 25-21.

 

Class 7-2A Paris Crestwood Regional

Four matches were contested Saturday. In the opening match, Cowden-Herrick beat Arcola 25-21, 25-10, Findlay Okaw Valley won over Neoga 25-8, 25-8 and Oakland Lake Crest downed Villa Grove 25-10, 25-23.

In the second round, Paris Crestwood beat Cowden-Herrick 25-11, 25-19 and Oakland Lake Crest downed Findlay Okaw Valley, 25-14, 25-18.

Paris Crestwood then defeated Oakland Lake Crest in Monday play, 25-18, 25-15. Paris Crestwood advances to its own sectional against the winner of the Edwards County Regional March 7 at 6 p.m.

 

Class 3A Robinson Nuttall

Jasper County reached the second round of this regional by beating Casey-Westfield 25-21, 25-10. Jasper County will now face Paris Mayo at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

In the second match, Lawrenceville Parkview defeated Marshall 25-18,25-12. Lawrenceville Parkview will take on Robinson Nuttall at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Class 7-3A Pana Regional

This regional opens tonight with Teutopolis facing Arthur at 6 followed by Shelbyville Moulton against Sullivan at 7:15.

 

Class 7-4A Effingham Regional

The Mustangs advanced in their own regional Saturday. Effingham won over Danville North Ridge. The Mustangs lost the opener 25-12 but came back with 25-17, 25-18 counts for the victory.

Effingham now meets top-seeded Tolono Unity at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mattoon downed Danville South View 25-16, 25-12. Mattoon advances to face Charleston at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
