Effingham Junior High School went three sets before dropping seventh and eighth grade volleyball matches to  Edwards County (Albion) Thursday evening.

In the seventh-grade contest, Edwards County won the opener 25-20 but Effingham came back with a 25-18 count. Edwards County then claimed the win 25-13.

In eighth-grade action, the Mustangs won the opener 25-17 but Edwards County came back with 25-21, 25-12 counts for the win.

Effingham is back in competition Monday at Teutopolis.

At Effingham

Stewardson Trinity picked up two victories over Effingham Sacred Heart Thursday evening.

Trinity won the seventh-grade contest 25-15, 25-21. In eighth-grade play, Trinity claimed the win 25-7, 25-20. Sacred Heart drops to 0-2 on the season.

At Sacred Heart

Seventh-Grade Match

Sacred Heart -- Hakman, 1 assist, 1 dig; Rozene, 1 kill; Jensen, 1 ace, 1 dig; Karolewicz, 2 aces, 2 kills, 2 digs; Koester, 1 ace, 1 dig

Eighth-Grade Match

Sacred Heart -- Carie, 5 assists, 2 digs; Hanfland, 1 dig, 1 block; Buenker, 3 assists, 7 digs; Bushue, 1 ace, 1 kill, 5 digs, 1 block; Feldhake, 8 kills, 3 digs

 

At Mattoon

Teutopolis and Mattoon split victories. The Shoes took a three-set victory in seventh-grade action.

Mattoon won the opener 25-22 but the Shoes came back with 25-16, 26-24 wins in their season opener.

In eighth-grade play, Mattoon was a winner 25-19 before T-town took the second set 25-20. Mattoon then won with a 28-26 score.

T-town is back in action Monday hosting Effingham.
