LOUISVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School called at North Clay (Louisville) and handed the Cardinals a 25-19, 25-21 non-conference volleyball loss Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs were led by Jenna Woltman with 11 digs and 13 assists. Hannah Will tallied four kills. Isabel Moore led in blocks with two. Marci Mills had four aces.

The Cardinals claimed the junior varsity match 21-25, 25-21, 15-10.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown captured the championship of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament Thursday evening.

The Eagles downed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 25-9, 25-22 in the title match. SEB had beaten Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City earlier in the evening 25-11, 25-21 to reach the title contest. CORL had downed Patoka 21-25, 25-18, 25-21.

In the consolation championship match, Ramsey won over Mulberry Grove 21-25, 25-19, 25-15. In the third place match, Patoka was the winner over CHBC 18-25, 25-21, 26-24.

At Altamont

Altamont High School celebrated Senior Night and Pink Night by playing host to Dieterich.

The Indians picked up the win 25-15, 27-25 to improve to 2-5 in the National Trail Conference, 10-16 overall. Laatsch had six kills and three digs. H. Paquette had seven assists. Fearday led in aces with three.

Dieterich was led by Sydnie Vahling with four digs and four kills, Hannah Hunzinger with seven assists and Lauren Garbe with six aces.

Altamont also claimed the junior varsity match 25-10, 25-8.

At Mount Zion

Mount Zion played host to Teutopolis and downed the Wooden Shoes 25-21, 25-12. The loss ends T-town's regular season record at 17-12.

Kayla Kroeger led the Shoes in kills with eight. Danielle Repking had 10 digs. Ashley Westjohn led in assists with eight.

The Braves also claimed the junior varsity match 25-5, 25-17 and the freshman contest 25-19, 25-20.

"The varsity gave a very good 3A school all it could handle in set one," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "The girls really came to play. The set was tied at 20 but we missed three passes in a row to give them a 23-20 lead. We managed to get the ball back but they stuff blocked Kayla to bring the set to an end. Set two started out the same way. We were down 7-5 but then they scored three points in back-to-back rotations to pull away. They're a very talented group and once they got ahead, they really poured it on."

At Paris

Newton handed Paris a loss 25-11, 25-7 to capture the Little Illini Conference regular season crown. The Eagles are 27-7 overall.

Paris won the junior varsity match 13-25, 26-24, 15-12. Newton took the frehsman contest 25-14, 25-11.

Leading Newton in the varsity contest were Hartrich with three aces and 15 assists, Johnson with seven kills, Frohning with two blocks and Kline, Johnson, Hartrich and Weber with three digs each.

At Paris

At Neoga

South Central traveled to Neoga and handed the Indians a 29-27, 25-15 National Trail Conference loss. The Cougars are now 6-1 in the conference, 25-7 overall.

Kendall Burleyson led the winners with 18 points, three aces, eight kills, seven assists and a dig. Emily Chapman led in assists with 11 and had six kills. Abbey Garrett had three stuff blocks.

South Central also nabbed the junior varsity match 25-23, 25-20 to improve to 10-4. The freshman/sophomore squad won 25-20, 25-14 and is 3-3-2.

At Neoga
