At Centralia

Teutopolis dropped a varsity match to Centralia Monday evening, 25-23, 25-23.

"Volleyball can be a very complex sport," said T-town Coach Tim Mills. "Hitting lanes and routes interwoven with passing tempos that make up your offense. Blocking assignments and slot reads that define your defense. Even serving has patterns and slots that we practice on a dailiy basis. Winning or losing a volleyball match can also be pretty simple. It usually comes down to the number of errors made, errors of execution, errors in judgement or errors of intensity of aggressiveness. For the third match in a row we made too many errors on offense.

"We had 47 hitting attempts with 14 kills but we made 10 attack errors. Basically our offense scored four points. We didn't fare much better from the service line. We had six serving errors and six aces, so we didn't score any points directly from our serving. On the positive side we had 33 blocks and 53 digs so our defense made a lot of stops. But in order for us to win the tightly contested matches, we have to find some consistency on our offense."

T-town was led by Kayla Kroeger with 12 blocks, 12 digs and five kills, Savannah Grimes with six points and six assists. Ashley Westjohn had six assists.

T-town also fell in the JV contest 25-20, 25-15. The Shoes won the freshman contest 19-25, 25-18, 15-13.
