Bulldogs Beat Indians, Area Volleyball Roundup

NEOGA -- The match went three sets before Effingham St. Anthony pulled out a volleyball win over host Neoga Tuesday evening.

The Bulldogs won the opener 25-21 before Neoga came back with a 25-17 victory. St. Anthony then went out at 25-17. Jenna Woltman had 21 digs for the Bulldogs and 23 assists. Marci Mills led in kills with nine and had two blocks. Hannah Will also had two blocks. Meg Richards put down five aces.

St. Anthony won the junior varsity contest 26-24, 25-16 and was a freshman/sophomore winner 25-8, 25-15.

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown captured a 25-15, 25-17 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. CHBC dropped to 2-1 on the season.

Emma Wehrle led CHBC with nine digs. Kara Clearwater had three kills. Skylar Morrison had four assists. Kallie Clearwater led in aces with two.

SEB picked up the junior vasrity win 25-19, 22-25, 25-10 and a freshman/sophomore match 25-12, 25-16.

At St. Elmo

At Farina

Dieterich won the opener 25-20 over South Central but the host Cougars came back with 25-17, 25-19 victories to pull out the match.

Kendall Burleyson led the winners in points with 10 and aces with two. Hannah Rubin had two aces. Deidra Schaal led in kills with 15 and digs with 13. Emily Chapman had 22 assists. The Cougars are now 3-0 in the National Trail Conference, 6-1 overall.

South Central won the junior varsity match 25-17, 25-18.

At Farina

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis swept through all three matches over Sullivan Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes claimed the varsity match 25-17, 25-16. Kayla Kroeger led in kills with 11. Macy Michels had five blocks. Danielle Repking led in aces with three while Ashley Westjohn had 11 digs and 11 assists. T-town now sports a 7-1 record.

T-town won the junior varsity match 25-14, 18-25, 25-22. The Shoes also nabbed the freshman match 25-9, 25-16.

"It was a nice night all around as we won at each level," said  T-town Coach Tim Mills. "All three teams did really well. Our serve receive was solid at the freshman and varsity levels and was good enough at the JV level with the exception of set two. The varsity dominated their match."

Caesy-Westfield handed Cumberland a loss 25-22, 25-19. The Warriors improve to 3-5 on the season while Cumberland dropped to 1-6.

Claire Guyon had 14 digs for the Pirates. Lainey Jackson led in aces with five and kills with four.

North Clay (Louisville) defeated Webber Township (Bluford) in two sets, 25-21, 25-12.

In junior varsty play, the Cardinals also won 25-19, 25-18.
