Vandalia Is Winner In Own Tournament

VANDALIA -- Vandalia High School captured the championship of its own volleyball tournament Saturday with a 4-0 record.

The Vandals beat Brownstown 25-11, 25-13, East Alton-Wood River 25-16, 25-18, Carlyle 25-21, 26-24 and South Central 26-24, 25-22.

South Central finished second with a 3-1 mark beating Beecher City 25-13, 25-15, Lebanon 23-25, 25-21, 15-9 and Greenville 25-20, 29-30, 15-7 then lost to Vandalia.

Brownstown was 1-3 in the meet losting to Vandalia, Carlyle 25-22, 25-16 and East Alton-Wood River 25-12, 25-12 and winning over Beecher City 25-20, 25-12.

Beecher City was 0-1 losing to South Central, Greenville 25-6, 25-10, Lebanon 25-11, 25-12 and Brownstown.

In a Friday match, Ramsey defeated Beecher City 25-16, 17-25, 25-21.

Beecher City was led by Taylor Danekas led in digs with 13 while Kirsten Buzzard had eight kills and a block. Kacie Hilt led in assists with 12. Kirby Herrmann had four aces.
