Seventh-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- March 3

SIGEL -- Sigel St. Michael and Effingham Sacred Heart will square off for the championship of the Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Volleyball Regional after picking up victories Tuesday evening.

St. Michael defeated Beecher City in the opening match 25-16, 25-11. The second contest went to Sacred Heart over Stewardson-Strasburg 25-23, 14-25, 26-24.

St. Michael will take on Sacred Heart at 6 p.m. Thursday for the regional title.

Class 7-1A West Salem Regional

Newton St. Thomas picked up a victory Tuesday evening at the West Salem Regional. St. Thomas defeated West Salem in two close games, 25-23, 25-20.

In the opening match, Grayville defeated Martinsville 25-10, 25-9.

St. Thomas will face Grayville at 7 p.m. Thursday for the regional championship.

Class 7-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

Altamont will play for this regional championship after winning Tuesday evening.

Altamont claimed a victory over Cowden-Herrick, 25-23, 25-21.

In the opening match, Raymond Lincolnwood defeated St. Elmo/Brownstown, 25-22, 25-17.

Altamont faces Raymond Lincolnwood Thursday at 7 p.m. for the championship.

Class 7-2A Paris Crestwood Regional

Paris Crestwood won the championship of its own regional. Paris Crestwood defeated Neoga 25-21, 25-20.

Paris Crestwood advances to the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Monday taking on Hutsonville, the winner of the St. Anthony Regional at 6 p.m.

Class 7-3A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Teutopolis will play for this regional championship after winning Tuesday evening.

T-town defeated Cumberland 25-19, 25-23 in the second match of the evening.

In the opener, Tuscola East Prairie downed host Shelbyville Moulton 28-26, 25-17.

T-town faces Tuscola East Prairie at 6 p.m. Thursday for the right to advance to the Casey-Westfield Sectional next week.

Class 7-3A Casey-Westfield Regional

Jasper County moved into the title match of this regional by downing the host squad 26-24, 25-18.

In the opening match, Paris Mayo defeated Marshall 25-12, 25-11.

Jasper County now meets Paris Mayo at 6 p.m. Thursday. The winner moves to the Casey-Westfield Sectional Monday.

Class 7-4A Mattoon Regional

Tolono Unity defeated Charleston for the regional championship of the Mattoon Regional Tuesday evening.

Tolono Unity won 28-26, 25-21 and advances to its own sectoinal Monday against the winner of the Champaign Edison Regional at 6 p.m., either the host squad or Champaign Jefferson.
