Seventh-Grade Volleyball Regionals -- March 2

SIGEL -- Beecher City captured the opening match at the Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Volleyball Regional Monday evening.

Beecher City won 25-19, 25-22 over Windsor. Beecher City advances to face Sigel St. Michael at 6 p.m. today. The second match features Effingham Sacred Heart against Stewardson-Strasburg at 7.

Class 7-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

St. Elmo/Brownstown and Altamont picked up victories in opening round play of the St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional.

The host squad defeated Nokomis 25-7, 25-5. SEB now advances to face Raymond Lincolnwood at 6 p.m. today.

In the second match, Altamont was a winner over Ramsey 27-25, 25-22. Altamont now faces Cowden-Herrick at 7 p.m. today.

St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional

Altamont -- Barns, 9 points, 7 aces; Cox, 4 points, 3 aces, 1 assist; Jackman, 5 kills; Kuhns, 1 point, 4 assists; Solan, 4 points, 1 ace, 1 kill; Stuemke, 4 points; Williams, 1 kill; Mette, 3 points, 1 ace, 1 dig; Goeckner, 3 points, 1 ace

Class 7-2A St. Anthony Regional

The championship was decided in this regional Monday evening.

Hutsonville opened with a 25-13 victory over Edwards County (Albion) but lost the second contest 25-19. Hutsonville then won 25-17 for the championship.

Hutsonville advances to the St. Anthony Sectional next Monday against the winner of the Paris Crestwood Regional.

Class 7-2A Paris Crestwood Regional

Paris Crestwood advanced in its own 7-2A regional with a victory Monday evening. Crestwood defeated Findlay Okaw Valley 25-15, 25-12.

In the second match, Neoga downed Villa Grove 25-21, 25-20.

Neoga faces Paris Crestwood at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.

Class 7-3A Casey-Westfield Regional

Marshall and Casey-Westfield advanced in this 3A regional. Marshall defeated Robinson Nuttall 26-24, 25-23.

The second match went to Casey-Westfield over Lawrenceville Parkview 25-18, 25-19.

Marshall will now face Paris Mayo at 6 p.m. today while Casey-Westfield takes on Jasper County 20 minutes after the opening match.

Class 7-2A Shelbyville Moulton Regional

Shelbyville Moulton won an opening round game in its own regional. Moulton defeated Arthur 25-10, 25-14. Shelbyville Moulton will now face Tuscola East Prairie at 6 p.m. today.

In the second match, Teutopolis was a 25-21, 25-11 winner over Sullivan. T-town advances to face Cumberland at 7:15 p.m. today.

Class 7-4A Mattoon Regional

Charleston handed Mattoon a loss in three games. Mattoon won the opener 25-13 before Charleston came back with 25-19, 25-19 counts to advance.

In the second match, Tolono Unity won over Effingham. No scores were listed.

Tolono Unity meets Charleston at 6 p.m. today for the regional championship.
