Effingham Junior High School played host to Mattoon and picked up two volleyball victories Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won the opener 25-12 before Mattoon came back with a 25-12 win. Effingham then won the match 25-14.

In the eighth-grade match, the Mustangs again took the opener 25-10 before Mattoon came back 25-18. Effingham then won 25-13 to improve to 13-3.

Effingham Sacred Heart picked up the seventh-grade win over Mattoon St. John, 25-16, 25-16.

In eighth-grade competition, Mattoon St. John was a winner 25-22, 25-21.

Jasper County and Hutsonville split victories Tuesday evening. Hutsonville was a winner in seventh-grade action, 25-23, 10-25, 25-16.

In the eighth-grade contest, Jasper County was a winner 25-16, 25-15.

Cowden-Herrick and Altamont both picked up a victory each Tuesday evening.

Cowden-Herrick was a winner in seventh-grade play 27-29, 25-14, 25-20. Altamont dropped to 4-5 in the National Trail Conference, 9-11 overall.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont won 25-22, 25-13 to improve to 9-0 in the conference, 13-3 overall.
