COWDEN -- South Central High School came calling and handed Cowden-Herrick a National Trail Conference volleyball loss Monday.

The Cougars won 25-14, 25-12 to even their record to 3-3 in the conference and 4-10 overall. Maria Brasel had seven kills and eight assists. Kacie Crain had 11 points. Emily Chapman led in assists with 11.

South Central claimed the junior varsity match 25-15, 18-25, 25-22 to improve to 6-2.

At Cowden

Varsity Match

South Central -- Brasel, 7 kills, 8 assists; Schaal, 5 kills, 3 digs, 8 points; Chapman, 3 kills, 11 assists, 7 points; Crain, 11 points

 

At Toledo

Cumberland captured a non-conference win over Dieterich in two games, 25-15, 25-16. Dieterich drops to 3-12 on the season.

The Movin' Maroons were led by Faith Boerngen and Katlyn Lane with three points each. Mallorie Vahling had six digs. Emilee Flach had five kills. Hannah Hunzinger and Boerngen had six assists each.

Cumberland also nabbed the junior varsity match, 25-22, 23-25, 27-25.

At Toledo

Dieterich -- Vahling, 1 kill; Hunzinger, 2 points, 4 digs, 6 assists; Winters, 1 point, 2 kills, 1 block; Flach, 4 digs, 5 kills; Boerngen, 3 points, 3 digs, 2 kills, 6 assists; Vahling, 1 point, 6 digs, 3 kills; Lane, 3 points, 1 ace, 3 digs

 

At Altamont

Altamont picked up a non-conference victory over Ramsey Monday evening. The Indians won 25-13, 25-12 to improve to 6-15.

Wharton and Laatsch had three kills each. Paquette had five assists. Winters led in digs with five. Higgs had five aces.

The Indians also won the junior varsity match 25-3, 25-14.

At Altamont

Altamont -- Higgs, 2 kills, 2 digs, 5 aces; Wharton, 3 kills; Laatsch, 3 kills; Miller, 2 kills, 1 assist, 4 aces; Paquette, 5 assists; Winters, 5 digs, 2 aces; Goeckner, 3 digs; Hoene, 3 digs

 

At Louisville

Teutopolis claimed a non-conference win over North Clay (Louisville) Monday. The Wooden Shoes won 25-15, 25-18.

The Shoes also claimed the junior varsity match 25-20, 17-15.

The Teutopolis Higih School volleyball team will be hosting Effingham St. Anthony Thursday during Volley for a M.S. Cure.

The teams have been working to sell T-shirts and raise awareness about multiple sclerosis. The activities will begin at 5:50 p.m. with a freshman-sophomore match followed by a junior varsity match at 6:15. The varsity match will begin around 7:30.

Activities include a serving game, a 50/50 raffle, as well as other raffle items. Wear orange and black to show your support towards the M.S. cause.

 

At Salem

Newton picked up a non-conference win over Salem. The Eagles won 25-11, 23-25, 25-16. Johnson had four aces. Cohorst had eight kills and nine digs. Koebele had 23 assists. Litzleman had four blocks.

Salem claimed the junior varsity match 25-16, 25-22.

At Salem

Newton -- Johnson, 4 aces, 7 kills, 2 assists, 7 digs; Koebele, 3 aces, 6 kills, 23 assists, 3 digs; Cohorst, 1 ace, 8 kills, 3 assists, 9 digs; Huddleston, 1 ace, 2 digs; Kline, 6 kills, 5 digs; Litzleman, 4 kills, 4 blocks, 1 dig; Hartrich, 1 kill; Ka. Hardiek, 2 assists, 6 digs

 

At Neoga

Shelbyville pushed its record to 16-3 on the season by downing Neoga in non-conference play.

The Rams won 25-11, 25-20. Olivia Ott had eight digs for Neoga while Maddie Easton led in assists with six and Taylor Gresens led in kills with four. Neoga drops to 4-14 on the season.

Neoga -- Easton, 2 kills, 1 block, 2 digs, 6 assists; Gresens, 4 kills, 2 blocks, 1 dig; Hotze, 1 block, 1 dig; Ott, 1 kill, 2  blocks, 8 digs; Roy, 2 kills, 1 block, 6 digs, 2 assists

 

At Windsor

Windsor hosted Central A&M and fell in three games. The Blue Devils won the opener 25-22 but Central A&M came back with 25-18, 25-15 counts.

Paige Wollard had 14 kills and Bayleigh Tabor led in digs with 14. Claire Pfeiffer led in assists with 22. The Blue Devils drop to 13-5 on the season.

Central A&M also claimed the junior varsity match 25-18, 23-25, 27-25.

At Windsor

Windsor -- Bridges, 2 aces, 2 kills, 2 blocks, 3 digs; Tabor, 2 kills, 14 digs; Bennett, 1 ace, 5 kills, 2 blocks; Hortenstine, 1 dig; Austin,1  kill, 2 blocks, 3 digs; Woolard, 14 kills, 2 blocks, 13 digs; Pfeiffer, 22 assists,1 ace, 7 digs; Higgins, 1 dig

 

At St. Elmo

St. Elmo/Brownstown captured an Egyptian-Illini Conference win over Patoka, 25-15, 25-20.

The Eagles improve to 4-0 in the conference, 12-8 overall. Maxey had 23 assists. Moore and Guerrero had nine digs each. Bone led in kills with nine.

In junior varsity match, SEB was a winner 25-13, 25-11.

At St. Elmo
