Three Field Event Competitors, One Runner Advance To 1A State Track Finals, EHS Competes Today

Some area athletes qualified for the finals at the Boys 1A State Track and Field Meet Thursday. The meet is being held at O'Brien Stadium at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Ethan Mette of Teutopolis qualified for the finals in the triple jump with a leap of 12.86 meters.

Parker Wolf of Newton qualified in the 400 meter run with a time of 50.18 seconds.

Two Altamont competitors qualified. Eric Kollmann reached the finals in the shot put with a heave of 14.86 meters while Jacob Veteto qualified in the pole vault with a height of 3.80 meters.

Also taking part in Saturday action will be Effingham St. Anthony's Griffen Elder who will run in the 3200, which only competes on Saturday.

Area teams who had competitors taking part in the 1A State meet were Effingham St. Anthony, Newton, Teutopolis, Altamont and Cumberland.

Other individuals, who did not advance to the finals, were:

Newton

Parker Wolf -- 100, 11.16 sec.; 200, 22.25 sec.

Owen Mahaffey -- 400, 51.05 sec.

Luke Weber -- 800, 2:06.92 min.

Owen Schackmann -- 110 Hurdles, 17.14 sec.

Jacob Wickham -- shot, 15.94 meters; discus, 43.15 meters

400 Relay -- Dalton Baltzell, Evan Zumbahlen, Isaac Flowers, Parker Wolf, 44.68 sec.

800 Relay -- Dalton Baltzell, Isaac Flowers, Luis Zavala, Evan Zumbahlen, 1:37.86 min.

3200 Relay -- Luke Weber, Luis Zavala, Hayden Borgic, Owen Mahaffey, 8:17.18 min.

Teutopolis

Kolton Tedrick -- shot, 14.34 meters

800 Relay -- Anthony Roley, Jack Lin, Ethan Mette, Ivan Wernsing, 1:36.69 min.

Altamont

Eric Kollmann, discus, fouled

Ben Roedl -- high jump, no height; triple jump, 12.58 meters

Cumberland

Logan Gerhardt, 300 hurdles, 44.66 sec.

The 2A State Meet will hold its qualifying on Friday. Effingham High School's Logan Heil will run in the 110 hurdles while the Hearts also have the 400 relay team of Weldon Dunston, Caden Walls, Jacob Weaver and Muhammad Freeman competing and the 800 relay team with the same four runners.

All of the finals are set for Saturday.
