Area Girls Place At State Track Meets

Several area girls placed at the Class 1A and 2A State Track Meets Saturday.

In Class 1A, Effingham St. Anthony's Allison Geen captured sixth place in the pole vault at 3.36 meters.

Jada Bueherkemper finished seventh in the high jump for Teutopolis with a height of 1.55 meters.

Newton had two relay teams compete Saturday. The 800 relay team of Laney Hemrich, Makayla McVicar, Morgan Schafer and Sydney Kinder took fifth in 1:43.85 minutes.

The 1600 relay team of McVicar, Elley Bennett, Kinder and Hemrich were ninth in 4:11.52 minutes.

Newton's Brooke Schafer finished 18th in the shot at 10.32 meters.

Cumberland's Katelyn Shoemaker was 21st in the long jump at 4.73 meters.

Teutopolis' Ella Neihls finished 28th in the long jump at 4.60 meters.

Competng in Class 2A, Effingham High School's Jessica Larsen finished 10th in the semifinals of the 800 Friday at 2:22.41 and advanced to the finals Saturday. She finished 10th overall at 2:21.13.

The 3200 relay team of Morgan Springer, Baylee Summers, Haddie Hill and Larsen finished 19th  in the semifinals Friday at 10:14.44 and did not advance to the finals.
