Effingham St. Anthony claimed the girls team championship of the National Trail Conference Track Meet.

ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed both the boys and girls championships at the National Trail Conference track meets Tuesday.

The Bulldogs won the boys meet with 186 edging Altamont with 183 followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 53, Neoga 35, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 30, North Clay (Louisville) 25, Dieterich 18 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 12.

St. Anthony captured nine first place finishes in the meet. Griffen Elder nabbed three of those first place finishes. He won the 800 in 2:05.1 minutes, the 1600 in 5:06.0 and the 3200 in 11:23.6.

Winning other individual championships were Max Sager in the 400 in 54.3 seconds, Conlan Walsh in the 300 hurdles in 44.2 and Calvin Sudkamp in the high jump at 1.88 meters.

Big scoring came as St. Anthony took three of the four relay events. The team of Connor Croy, Ronan Bailey, Luis Gonzalez and Elliott Frisbie were the 800 winners in 1:45.9 minutes. Giovanni Bucio, Walsh, Elder and Frisbie combined to win the 1600 in 3:45.2 and James Emmerich, Frisbie, Aidan Braunecker and Bucio won the 3200 relay in 9:48.9.

Second place Altamont captured seven first place finishes. Logan Duncan and Ben Roedl were double event winners. Duncan took the 100 in 11.4 seconds and the 200 in 23.8. Roedl captured the long jump at 5.83 meters and the triple jump at 12.35.

The Indians also claimed the 400 relay in 46.9 seconds. Team members were Duncan, Kamryn Wolfert, Roedl and Garrett Schultz.

Eric Kollmann won the shot with a heave of 14.33 meters. Jacob Veteto captured the pole vault at 3.66 meters.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Lowell Wilhour was an NTC champion, winning the 110 hurdles in 17.5 seconds.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Trenten Monet won the discus with a throw of 38.19 meters.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony claimed the team title with 208 points followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo 106, Neoga 57, Altamont 51.5, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 51, North Clay 36.5 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 8.

The Bulldogs grabbed 10 first place finishes in the meet. Liv Hoene was a winner in two events, taking the 100 hurdles in 17.4 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 50.7.

There were six other individual first place finishes and three relay championships.

Emma Helmink won the 800 in 2:55.6 minutes while Stacie Vonderheide claimed the 1600 in 6:07.0 and Mollie Slifer won the 3200 in 13:54.2.

In the field events, Allision Geen won the pole vault at 2.90 meters while Maggie Moeller captured the long jump at 4.37 and Grace Niebrugge won the triple jump at 9.55.

The 400 relay team of Erin Stewart, Hoene, Anna Green and Moeller won in 53.8 seconds. The 800 relay team of Stewart, Niebrugge, Audrey LaSarge and Hoene won in 1:57.7 minutes. The 3200 relay team of Helmink, Jada Carpenter, Rilie Willenborg and Vonderheide won in 12:26.7.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Presley Williams was a double event winner. Williams captured the 100 in 12.9 seconds and the 200 in 27.5. Cordelia Lytle won the 400 in 1:04.0. Addie McWhorter was a winner in the high jump at 1.57 meters.

Altamont captured the 1600 relay in 4:42.9. Team members were Katie Tedrick, Ella Short, Maya Moore and Abigail Weishaar.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Kyleigh Wallace was a winner in the shot with a heave of 9.18 meters and captured the discus at 32.46 meters.
