EHS, T-town Tie For Second At Mattoon Girls Track Invite

MATTOON -- Effingham and Teutopolis tied for second place at the Mattoon Girls Track Invitational Tuesday.

Mount Zion won the meet with 187 points followed by Effingham 74, Teutopolis 74, Taylorville 68, Mattoon 50, Centralia 39, Charleston 30, Richland County 28 and Altamont 7.

T-town's Kaitlyn Vahling was a big contributor to the second place finish. Vahling won the 100 in 12.63 seconds, the 200 in 25.95 and the 400 in 1:00.76 minutes.

Kaela Neihls won the triple jump at 10.51 meters. Emma Bloemer was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.85.

The Wooden Shoes' 400 relay team of Adi Davidson, Halle Bushue, Ella Neihls and Vahling won in 52.0 seconds.

Effingham had numerous top three finishes in the meet. Jessica Larsen took second in the 800 in 2:22.38 minutes and was third in the 1600 in 5:41.73.

Baylee Summers captured second in the high jump at 1.47 meters and took third in the 400 in 1:03.25 minutes. Rylea Hodge was third in the long jump at 4.75.

The Hearts' 3200 relay team of Morgan Springer, Haddie Hill, Anna Theis and Larsen finished third in 10:36.02.
