Effingham senior Taylor Fatheree broke one of the longest-standing school records during the Eagle Invitational in Newton Friday night.

Fatheree broke the 3200 meter record, running a 9:53.37.  That breaks the record that had been set by John Griffith 40 years ago, when he ran a 9:55.2 in 1973.

In a conversation with Griffith earlier this spring, he indicated he has been following Fatheree's career with interest and felt it was a question of when, rather than whether, Taylor would break his record.
