Millikin Track Competes at Purdue Invitational

The Millikin men’s and women’s Indoor Track and Field team competed at the Purdue Boilermaker Invitational on Feb. 16 in West Lafayette, Ind.  No team scores were kept for the meet that included athletes from schools at all three NCAA levels.

Millikin sophomore Kindra Emberton (Niantic, Sangamon Valley H.S.) broke her own Millikin record in the 1 Mile run in 5:10.68 finishing in fourth place in the race.  Emberton was eighth in the 800 Meters in 2:21.69.

LeAnn Spesard (Paris, H.S.) was fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.69 meters.

Laura Steele (Perryville, Mo., St. Vincent H.S.) was fifth in the 1000 Meters in 3:31.11.

Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) was seventh in the 400 Meters in 1:00.78 and eighth in the 600 Meters in 1:42.25.

In men’s action, Justin Brooks (Bloomington, H.S.) won the Triple Jump at 13.51 meters (44-4.00).

Jordan Rahar (Taylorville, H.S.) was third in the Long Jump at 6.52 meters (21-4.75).

Kevin Martin (Bradley, Bradley Bourbonnais H.S.) was sixth in the 1000 Meters in 2:45.51 and Jacob Griffith (Villa Grove, H.S.) was eighth at 2:48.31.

Drew Bandelow (Willard, Mo., H.S.) was sixth in the 600 meters in 1:27.79 and eighth in the 1 Mile in 4:27.42.  Bandelow’s time in the Mile improved him standing on the Millikin Indoor Track Top 10 Performance list to fourth.

Kyle Shartzer (Illiopolis, H.S.) was seventh in the 600 Meters in 1:28.41.

Dustin Roth (Hillsboro, Mo., H.S.) was seventh in the Long Jump in 6.16 meters (20-2.50).

Alex Kemp (Tuscola, H.S.) was eighth in the 200 Meters in 22.87.

Millikin will be in action at the 2013 CCIW Championships on Feb. 22-23 at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
