University of Georgia sprinter Elija Godwin was hospitalized this week when he was impaled by a javelin during a running drill.

Godwin was running backward when he backed into a javelin that was sticking out of the ground. The javelin entered his body just below his shoulder blade and despite a punctured and collapsed lung, Godwin is expected to make a full recovery.
