Olney, Robinson Win LIC Track Meet Titles

NEWTON -- Olney High School claimed the championship of the Little Illini Conference boys track meet while Robinson won the girls title Wednesday.

Olney tallied 176 points followed by Robinson 87, Casey-Westfield 71, Paris 70, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 54, Newton 46, Marshall 27, Flora 23 and Lawrenceville 4.

Newton captured two second place finishes in the meet. The Eagles clocked a time of 46.14 seconds in the 400 relay with team members Payton Birch, Jerald Eckl, Adam Bridges and Trenton Hance.

Newton then took second in the 800 relay in 1:36.27 minutes with team members Bridges, Birch, Eckl and Hance.

Hance finished the highest in the individual events by taking third in the high jump at 5 feet, 8 inches.

In the girls meet, Robinson won with 115 points followed by Olney 113, Newton 112, Casey-Westfield 57, Paris 49, Red Hill 45, Marshall 35, Lawrenceville 25 and Flora 4.

The Eagles claimed three first place finishes winning the 400 relay in 52.13 seconds with Ana Rodriguez, Liz Volk, Claire Carr and Abby Stone; the 800 relay in 1:53.97 minutes with Volk, Rylea Borgic, Tori Zumbahlen and Mikaela Haarman in 1:53.97 and the 1600 relay in 4:16.92 with Madison Phillips, Carr, Rodriguez and Stone.

Five individuals finished in second place. Volk took second in the 100 hurdles in 17.56 seconds. Jaclyn Barthelme was second in the 300 hurdles in 50.26. Stone took second in the 800 in 2:34.13 mintues, Rodriguez was second in the long jump at 15 feet, 7 inches and Katie Hartke finished second in the discus with a throw of 105 feet, 3 1/2 inches.
