Jamie Michl Does Well For Millikin in Track Meet

The Millikin women’s and men’s Indoor Track and Field Team competed at the Engineer Invite hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind. January 26. The Millikin women finished in fifth and the Big Blue men were seventh.

Millikin set a new school record in the Women’s 4x400 Relay with a time of 4:02.89. Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.), Alyssa Staib (Naperville, Naperville Central H.S.), Kindra Emberton (Niantic, Sangamon Valley H.S.) and Ariel Robinson (Decatur, MacArthur H.S.) finished the race in second place.  The Big Blue’s time was the ninth fastest in NCAA DIII so far this Indoor season.

Other women’s finishes included:
LeAnn Spesard (Paris, H.S.) finished second in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.64 meters and was fourth in the Weight Throw 14.28 meters. Rachel Breault (St. Anne, Bishop McNamara H.S.) was second the 5000 Meters in a time of 21:30.73. Michl was second in the 400 Meters in 1:00.62, which was fourth fastest on the Indoor Track Top 10 Performance list.
Robinson was second in the 60 Meters in 7.97 seconds.

In men’s action, Patrick Tharp (Decatur, Mt. Zion H.S.) was second in the 5000 Meters 16:03
Justin Brooks (Bloomington, H.S.) was second in the Triple Jump at 13.09 meters. The Big Blue men finished second in the 4x200 Meter Relay in a time of 1:32.99, which is the fifth fastest on the Millikin Indoor Track Performance list.  Team members were Jordan Rahar (Taylorville, H.S.), Dimitri Dunner (Markham, Hillcrest H.S.), Richard Long (St. Louis, Mo., Webster Groves H.S) and Alex Kemp (Tuscola, H.S.).
