Bulldogs Second in Quad; Altamont, CHBC Win Boys, Girls Track Meets

SULLIVAN -- Effingham St. Anthony finished second in a boys quadrangular track meet and third in the girls meet at Sullivan High School Tuesday.

Winning the boys meet was Tuscola with 75.5 points followed by St. Anthony 69, Cerro-Gordo-Bement 60 and Sullivan 59.5.

The Bulldogs had five first place finishes in the meet. Mick Willenborg captured first in the 400 with a time of 55.86 seconds. Brian Dust was first in the 800 in 2:14 minutes. Jack Elder won the 110 hurdles in 16.8 seconds.

The 1600 relay team of Dust, Ty Wiedman, Ollie Kingery and Willenborg won in 3:52 minutes and the 3200 relay team of Wiedman, Tegeler, Kingery and Dust won in 9:14 minutes.

In the girls meet, Tuscola won with 90 points followed by Sullivan 77, St. Anthony 41 and Cerro-Gordo/Bement 30.

The Bulldogs had three first place finishes in the meet. Sarah Carr took first in the 800 with a time of 2:33.22 minutes. Abby Cothran went over the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches for first. The 800 relay team captured first in 2:01.96. Members of the team were Evie Strullmeyer, Peyton Ellis, Abby Cothran and Macy Ludwig.

At Teutopolis

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City captured the six-team meet in girls action at Teutopolis Tuesday.

CHBC tallied 139 points followed by Teutopolis 113, Altamont 39, Flora 36, Brownstown/St. Elmo 12 and North Clay (Louisville) 6

Tatyana Duckwitz scored 22 points for CHBC while Jaelyn Robertson tallied 20. Duckwitz took first in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 6 1/2 inches. She was first in the 100 in 13.06 seconds and finished second in the 400 in 1:06.9 minutes. She captured first in the 200 in 27.18.

Robertson was first in the triple jump at 31 feet, 1 inch and finished first in the 100 hurdles in 16.49 seconds. She was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 56.96 and fourth in the long jump at 14-7 1/2.

CHBC also had firsts from Sydney Lorton in the 1600 in 6:31 and the 400 relay team in 56.68.

T-town's Claire Bushur was a winner in two events, taking the shot with a heave of 43 feet, 3 1/2 inches and the discus at 113-1. The Wooden Shoes also had first place finishes in the pole vault as Hemmen went over at 10-3, Jessica Runde in the 800 in 2:32.3. Mette won the 400 in 1:01.8, the 800 relay team in 1:57.2 and the 1600 relay in 4:21.8.

Altamont's Rachel Jackman won the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches and Gia Sandoval captured the 3200 in 14:21.8.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Wilhour won the 300 hurdles in 48.6.

In the boys meet, Altamont captured first place with 110 points followed by CHBC 104, Teutopolis 51, Flora 43 and BSE 31.

Altamont had first place finsihes from Kolby Brewer in the 100 in 11.78 seconds, Xander Moschenrose in the 200 in 24.4, Donovan Delaney in the long jump at 17 feet, 5 1/2 inches, Tim Moore in the pole vault at 13-0 and Derik Budde in the 1600 in 4:59.4. The 400 relay team captured first in 47.47, the 800 relay team in 1:39.7 and the 1600 relay team in 4:07.6.

CHBC had three first place finishes. Jaden Robertson won the 110 hurdles in 17.15 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 45.52. Dylan Webster claimed the triple jump at 38-2 1/2 and the high jump at 6 feet.

T-town first place finishes were Noah Probst in the 3200 run in 10:31.6 minutes, Joe Kingery in the shot with a throw of 45-3 and the discus at 167-10.

BSE two first place finishes. Sam Klein won the 800 in 2:16.3 and the 400 in 56.38.
