EHS Nabs Track Meets, St. A Boys, Girls Second At Robinson

Effingham High School claimed both the boys and the girls track meet wins Monday.

In the girls meet, the Hearts won a quadrangular with 75 points followed by Olney 64, Cumberland 62 and Altamont 47.

Effingham's Miranda Fox picked up two victories. Fox won the pole vault at 8 feet, 1 inch and claimed the 800 in 2:39.86 minutes.

Other first place finishes for the Hearts came from Madison Pierce in the 100 in 14.63 seconds and Kiyah Kuhlman in the 100 hurdles in 17.03. The 400 relay team won in 53.70 and the 1600 relay team won in 4:37.69.

Jackman captured two first place finishes for Altamont. She won the 300 hurdles in 52.91 seconds and the high jump at 5 feet.

Dittamore claimed two firsts for Cumberland taking the 1600 in 5:59.34 and the 3200 in 12:37.55. The Pirates also won two relay events, the 3200 in 12:13.31 and the 800 in 2:02.49.

In the boys meet, Effingham claimed the win with 70 points followed by Altamont 63 and Cumberland 52.

Effingham's Clayton Cramsey and Tristin Duncan picked up two victories each. Cramsey won the high jump at 5 feet, 7 inches and ran to victory in the 400 in 52.93 seconds. Duncan claimed the 100 in 11.93 seconds and the long jump at 19 feet, 1 inch.

Other first place finishes for the Hearts were Matthew Hites in the shot with a throw of 38-11 1/2, Zeel Patel in the 800 in 2:18.18 and the 1600 relay team in 3:54.81.

Cumberland claimed three relay events, taking the 400 in 47.72, the 800 in 1:42.67 and the 3200 in 9:49.39.

Altamont had four first place finishes. Moore won the pole vault at 13-6, Delaney the triple jump at 34-9, Kollman in the discuss at 139-5 and Rhodes in the 100 hurdles in 18.37.

At Robinson

Effingham St. Anthony placed second in a quadrangular boys track meet Monday at Robinson High School.

The homestanders won the meet with 114 points followed by St. Anthony 77, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 49 and Oblong 10.

First place finishes for the Bulldogs were Wiedman in the 400 with a time of 57.71 seconds, Elder in the 200 in 23.76, Fonner in the pole vault at 12 feet, the 800 relay team in 1:41.44 and the 1600 relay team in 3:50.53.

In the girls meet, Robinson won with 115 points followed by St. Anthony 76, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 42 and Oblong 11.

The Bulldogs won the 400 relay with a time of 56.94 seconds and the 1600 relay in 4:44 minutes.

Carr and Guy claimed two wins each. Carr won the 400 in 1:04.94 minutes and the 3200 in 13:28.75. Guy captured the pole vault at 7 feet and the 800 in 2:48.18.
