T-town Fourth, EHS Sixth at Mattoon Invite

MATTOON -- Teutopolis High School finished fourth while Effingham was sixth at the Mattoon Girls Track Invitational Tuesday.

Mattoon won its own meet with 120 points followed by Charleston 103, Mount Zion 83, Teutopolis 71, Centralia 56, Effingham 48, Olney 30, Taylorville 29, Salem 14 and Vandalia 4.

Effingham's Kiyah Kuhlman captured the 100 hurdles in 15.91 seconds while teammate Natalie Carie was fourth in 18.26 and T-town's Micah McWhorter finished fifth in 18.83.

Kuhlman also claimed the 300 hurdles in 48.56 seconds. T-town's Rebecca Habing was third in 52.17.

The Hearts took third in the 400 relay in 53.44. EHS finished fifth in the 1600 relay in 4:27.24 while T-town was fourth in 4:22.47.

The Wooden Shoes had two first-place finishes. T-town won the 3200 relay in 10:06.46 minutes. Claire Bushur was first in the discus with a throw of 128 feet, 1 inch. Effingham's Shelby Myers was fifth with a throw of 96-10. Bushur took second in the shot with a heave of 41 feet, 1 inch. Myers finished fourth at 33-10.

T-town's Morgan Mette finished third in the 400 in 1:01.81. Jessica Runde took fourth in the 3200 in 12:57.27 and was fifth in the 800 in 2:33.98. Effingham's Miranda Fox finished fourth in the 800 in 2:32.45.

The Shoes' McWhorter finished third in the pole vault at 9 feet while Nikki Wellbaum was third in the long jump at 15-1 1/2. T-town took third in the 800 relay in 1:57.41.

Effingham's Shelby Rieman finished fifth in the high jump at 4-9 and teammate N. Carie was fifth in the triple jump at 30-7.
