Altamont, St. Anthony Nab Track Victories

Altamont High School captured a boys quadrangular track meet at Effingham St. Anthony while the Bulldogs won their own girls meet Tuesday.

Altamont tallied 84 points followed by St. Anthony 46, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 43 and North Clay (Louisville) 8.

The Indians claimed 10 first place finishes in the boys meet. They captured the 400 relay in 49.45 seconds and the 800 relay in 1:47.78 minutes.

Stevenson nabbed four top finishes, winning the 400 in 51.43, the 110 hurdles in 14.98, the high jump at 6 feet, 1 inch and the long jump at 19-0. Flores was a double event winner taking the 3200 in 10:56.31 and the 800 in 2:10.55.

Romo was a winner in the 200 in 23.70 and Moore claimed the pole vault at 12 feet.

Kinkelaar was a double event winner for St. Anthony, taking the shot with a throw of 47-8 and the discus at 163-10.

In the girls meet, St. Anthony was the winner with 86 points followed by Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 69 and Altamont 29.

The Bulldogs had nine first place finishes. The team won the 800 relay in 2:06.44 minutes, the 1600 relay in 4:33.36 and the 3200 relay in 11:17.42.

Individually, Carr picked up two victories, winning the 800 in 2:33.72 and the 3200 in 13:33.37. Slaughter won the 100 in 13.65 while Weis took the 400 in 1:08.09. Donovan was the winner in the 200 in 31.62. Kr. Slaughter was a winner in the pole vault at 11 feet while Ka. Slaughter took second at 8-0.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Robertson was a triple event winner. She took the long jump at 15-11 1/2 and the triple jump at 31-3. She also won the 100 hurdles in 16.53.

Altamont's Wolff claimed the shot at 35-1 and the discus at 102-5.
