Millikin Hosted Big Blue Alumni Track Meet

The Millikin track and field team hosted the 2017 Big Blue Alumni Invite Meet Saturday at Frank M. Lindsay Field in Decatur.  The Big Blue women finished in second place while the Millikin men were fourth.

Millikin sophomore Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.) won the 400 meters in 58.58 seconds, which tied her for the second fastest time in the event in Millikin Outdoor Track history.  Lukens finished in second in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:07.17.

Big Blue freshman Isabella Newingham (Decatur, Meridian H.S.) finished second in the 100 meters in 12.61 seconds.

Millikin’s Sami Battle (Odell, Pontiac H.S.) had a solid day in the jumps.  Battle finished second in the high jump in 1.58 meters (5-2.25), was third in the long jump 4.82 meters (15-9.75) and finished sixth in triple jump in 9.83 meters (32-3).

Senior Emma Hoyer (Champaign, University H.S.) finished second in the shot put in 12.43 meters (40-9.5) and was second in discus at 36.28 meters (119-0).

Freshman Morgan Powers (Shelbyville, H.S.) was third in the 800 meters in 2:22.65.  

Amber Johnson (Decatur, St. Teresa H.S.) finished in third in the 1500 meters in 5:06.96 and was fifth in 800 meters in 2:30.15.

Natalie Krol (New Lenox, Lincoln Way West H.S.) finished third in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 13:21.71.

Freshman Claire Caldwell (Monticello, H.S.) was third in 400 meters in 1:03.47 and finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:11.16.    

Millikin’s Taylor Johnson (Newton, H.S.) finished fourth in the 400 meters at 1:04.78.

Briana Trimuel (Flossmoor, Homewood Flossmoor H.S.) finished in fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in 17.77 seconds and fifth in the long jump in 4.65 meters (15-3.25).

Alexis Obermeyer (Clinton, H.S.) finished third in the discus 29.41 meters (96-6), fourth in the hammer at 38.68 meters (126-11) and sixth in the shot put in 10.75 meters (35-3.25).

Jenna Cebulski (Aurora, Aurora Central Catholic H.S.) finished in sixth in the discus at 27.99 meters (91-10) and was eighth in the shot put in 9.85 meters (32-3.75).

Haylie Lading (Mattoon, H.S.) was eighth in the triple jump at 9.20 meters (30-2.25).    

Millikin’s 4x400 relay was first in a time 4:14.14 with Lukens, Powers, Taylor Johnson and Caldwell running legs.
The Big Blue 4x100 relay was second in 51.25 seconds with Lukens, Taylor Johnson, Caldwell and Newingham competing.

In the men’s competition, Jacob Segrest (Brighton, Southwestern H.S.) won the long jump in 7.36 meters (24-1.75), which was Millikin’s second best all-time performance in the event.

Christian Zenon (Lafayette, Louisiana, Lafayette Christian H.S.) finished in second place in the 200 meters in 22.63 seconds.

Millikin freshman Ethan Meyer (Vandalia, H.S.) was third in the triple jump at 13.00 meters (42-8).

Ryan McDonald (Loami, New Berlin H.S.) finished in second place in the discus with a throw of 39.52 meters (129-8.25) and was seventh in the shot put at 11.77 meters (38-7.50).

Jon Shafer (St. Louis, Marquette H.S.) was fourth in the javelin at 44.00 meters (144-4.50).

Dalton Collins (Decatur, Meridian H.S.) finished in fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:00.55 and was sixth in the 400 meters in 51.17 seconds.    

Tyler Kimbrough (Chicago, Proviso West H.S.) was fifth in the 200 meters in 23.34 seconds and eighth in the 400 meters in 51.39 seconds.
