We told you this spring that Newton's McKendra Barthelme competed in four events at the State Track and Field Meet.

Now, she'll be taking her abilities to college.

McKendra has signed to compete for Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal. She signed to do multis/hurdles. She plans to major in Exercise Science and minor in Business Administration.

McKendra, the daughter of Chad and Melinda Barthelme, earned 11 outdoor State track medals, 12 indoor State track medals, broke four high school records, earned Little Illini Conference MVP honors all four years, and was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame at Newton Community High School.
